Any pointers as to why my 54 Mondy 130 TDCi is running like a sack of old nails until it warms up...?

No problem at all when hot.

Usually runs on BP diesel and the problem is not as bad when drinking BP Ultimate diesel.

Rough as in idling between 750 and 900 rpm? They do tend to run rough anyway from cold, as you no doubt know. Mine's had new injectors and still sounds like a bag of nails. It doesnt like damp either.

I'd say til you get the flashing light of doom you're OK

Edit - might be worth changing the fuel filter if not done in a while though, or an Italian tune up when it's warm

Thanks, but this is something new. Bought the car at 6k miles and 6 months old (2004), now done 123k mostly motorway or cross country miles.

It's recently had a fuel filter. Just hoping it's not injectors, or something that's going to lead to a bloody diagnostics ripoff machine...

Only other thing that comes to mind is thermostats. TDCi has 2, despite dealers saying there's only 1. £10 fix might be worth trying if you're so inclined

And another afterthought - Coolant Temp sensor

Might be worth paying the diagnostic charge unless you can get your hands on a reader
