Mondeo duratec oil filter
Discussion
Was about to do the service on the wife's mondeo (2.0l duratec, 2000, y-plate) at the weekend and found that the oil filter appears to be something 'special'. It's a standard looking housing but the filter was a shallow plastic thing with a drain plug. I've never seen anything like this and didn't take it apart just in case I couldn't get bits. Does it contain a replaceable element or do I replace the whole thing with another special assembly from ford or do I take it off and replace with a standard cartridge? I got a cartridge from halfords that they looked up on the system but didn't install it as it was deep enough so that if fitted it looked as if it would get knocked off by the first speed hump.
Thanks,
Mark

Would be really nice if engine designers actually talk to the car designers although its not only a Ford thing
Porsche have the prize here from the cars I've had by putting the oil filter on top of the 944 engine... genius. "Don't worry, it isn't on fire, I've just serviced it".Edited by dern on Thursday 10th July 21:38
