My car is 3.5 years old, done over 70K, last week i noticed that the exhaust needed replacing. I can't believe it is falling apart (rusting) so quickly on a fairly young car. is this normal with a car that does all motorway miles ?

So far the rear down pipe rusted away and was left dangling away from the rubber mount, on closer inspection the rear box is also looking rather tatty infact i can put my finger through where the pipe meets the rear box.

Anyone know how much its going to cost?

Cheers

thanks for all the comments, i will have to get the exhaust sorted to day its now dangling around and just about hanging on.

going to take it to the dealers/Kwik-Fit (which ever is cheaper) this morning to get it sorted before it does drop completely on to the ground at 70mph!

i have no intention of keeping the focus more than a couple of months.

Parts for the exhaust come to £100 (cat back), fitted the exhaust in 1hr - 45mins of which was trying to get the old one off! smile
