Hi All,
Is there a rev. Limiter fitted to a 4.0L Chim engine?
Booting it today got to 6000 and got a kick, is this normal?
Regards
Big Al.

Sounds like it, mine has on the Griffith 500 Engine.
Problem is you get there so quick sometimes it catches you out

I think the limiter is set to 6250 rpm on the 4.0 Chim.

Not that I've got anywhere near that to try it out

it's there all right.
found mine a few times, but in low gears it comes in at different rpm - i suspect the rev counter struggles to keep up! it gets more realistic by the time i have got to 3rd and now i'm more used to the car i just listen to the engine.

I don't know how universal these are, but I've seen 5800 on catted 4.0 and 6250 on pre-cat. But I understand it's programmable so if you've had your ECU chipped it could be anything. Mine is set to 6500 apparently. The rev limiter will work faster than the engine will rev so there's no possibility of the engine 'beating' it, but the rev counter will lag slightly so it might read slightly low when the limiter cuts in. (There have been lots of threads on optimum change-up points and discussions of why you should stay well below the rev limiter.)

Cheers,
