optimax replacment shell v-power 99 RON
Discussion
This is one of those things thats all in the mind! if your engine doesnt pink/detonate it wont make any difference to the power at all, however if your engine is running with detonation or on the edge of then yes you will get more power, you could also advance the dizzy slightly and get a few bhp more too but we are talking a few unless you have a motor built to run on 100 octane fuel

Excuse the ignorance
Shell Optimax / V Power (same stuff really) is better for V8 TVR's. The issue of stepper motor carbon build up is all but eliminated if you stick to Shell. Tesco and BP super fuels do not eliminate this problem. Edited to add 'in my opinion'

It's not just the increase in octane ratings for Ultimate and Optimax. It's the additives, or rather the additional additives, that are in the fuel that make for much cleaner running. Any car that's got a few miles under the sump will generally benefit from the cleaning properties of UltiOpti if they are used regularly.
I've ran my 50,000 Chim on Optimax for months, with a noticeable improvement, and have since alternated with 'normal' super unleaded and there's been no noticable deterioration.
I did a bit of research for an article and independant tests, whatever independant means, showed a decrease in petrol consumption. The extra cost of the fuels does not quite wipe out the advantages evidently so you save a little money. Mind you, the improvement in running is worth the extra. You get what you pay for.
I've noted a difference in sound as well. I thought first of all that I was imagining it but my son commented on it. Who would have thought that you could improve on the sound of an RV8?

I now have a Shell V-Power club card.
So I shan't be talking to the likes of you lot anymore.
They only recently sent me my shiny new Optimax card. What a waste of plastic. I see I have enough points for an ipod nano. Worth having?

Yeap V-Power card has just arrived with new annoying curved edge - I thought the V-Power card was a bonus above the Plus Points card? 300 litres a quarter needed to qualify etc, or am I wrong (can't be arsed to read the bumpf supplied)
Good article today:

I have used two tanks of the Vpower in the T350.... not noticed much faster but sounds better and more bangs. End of the day same price as Optimax and if it looks after your engine better and gives you a little bit more power for the same price.... i'm
