I see from the AGM voting form that there's a proposal to increase the membership fee by £5.

Likely to go through or not?

Is there any information on what the extra money generated would be used for? Simply to cover increased costs, or would there be any benefit for members?

Is that a euphemism for sponsoring Le Mans drivers?

Well in theory it would raise an extra ~£35K pa.

In that case we could run our own team

Reckon it will go through though, no-one notices a fiver these days - perhaps that's what they want.

I think there pushing there luck a bit, if it's a vote via postal ballot I'd be a NO and if it did go up I'd be thinking about not renewing next year, the only thing I use it for is Le Mans tickets and thats looking doubtfull next year so £35 for a monthly mag, with is very good as far as club mags go, but it's no EVO (and EVO's cheaper)
I know with these clubs there are only as good as you make them, and I'd still go to regional meetings, no one would actually know if your a member there or not
I don't take advantage of the trackdays, and following on from the awful reports of this years Mania I'd sit out next years and see what the extra £5 paid for

I'm with you there Raceboy. All I use the club for is the monthly mag. Le Mans tickets can be got elsewhere at similar money.

To be honest I get loads more info, advice, banter and news through this website.

I've a few comments to make on this but I'll save them for the AGM.

Those of you who've not done so, should read the minutes of the July committee meeting on the Club website. There are some clues as to where the extra money might be going

Some diesel and a new PC then
Are we going to get chance to vote on this or is it just forced on us

I'm not sure that I fully understand the details about the lorry, but the section as a whole is extremely vague and lacking solid reasons for the raise (imo).

I think I might be in a better position to support this if I had some figures that justified it.

As it stands, I can't see how the additional sum can be required for the items mentioned in the minutes.

PS: don't forget chaps, this is a public forum .

The roles of Editor and Treasurer are to be that of employees in the future and like Club Office, will not be positions of election.

As it happens, I'd already decided not to rejoin. I've hardly even opened the last two Sprints.

Know the feeling I've been a lot busier than I used to be and just couldn't be bothered to find the time to read most of the stuff in last months Sprint, but saying that I had the same problem with EVO
I know, I know, if you find the contents boring send in your own articles, etc, etc, but I'm definatly not going to spend another £5 to read my own drival
And heres a question what do you get extra for the 'joint' or 'familly' membership

Granted, there are clues, but it's still rather difficult to make an informed decision without proper details.

Well, at least one membership for a fiver (OK, only one Sprint, I know).

But what can you do with that 'membership' the only thing I can think of is if you both go to trackdays your 2nd driver or passenger will not need 'day membership' which funnily enough costs......£5
Would be happy to hear any other uses for it though

Well I'm certainly a buyer of the TVR club, the Mid-Essex region I am involved with are a great bunch of people and our 2 RO's the most enthusiastic RO's you could possibly meet. We have great events most months and would happily pay another £5, after all whats in a £5 for the year! but in saying that I would like to see some better organisation for future 'main TVR events' like mania for example.

I think we were promised better events for 2004 and if they can deliver I will happily pay the extra £5....all IMHO of course

Alan.

oh plus I hope the website improves as I mostly use this forum then the clubs...maybe they should link PH to the TVR web...Ted views? Its forever loosing my password so I never use the members area as can never get in!

I'm with you totally on this one. I used to look forward to the monthly Sprint, but i've barely flicked through the pages of the last couple. Everyone says it's great so far as Car Club Mags go, in which case i'm glad i'm not a member of any other car clubs. The only bit i look at is the classifieds and those on here are better anyway.

I wasn't seriously considering renewing next year anyway as i don't believe that any apparent advantanges can't be gained elsewhere. Thanks TVRCC - you've made my mind up for me.

STRONGLY DISAPPROVE. I still haven't had my freebie for being an RO. Plus, it really pisses me off to see them throw away £5,000 and then turn round and ask for more. No way.

I guess some people are car-club types and some are not - simple as that. If you join a car club looking for what "advantages" you will get, and from that I assume you mean cheap insurance, cut-price tyres and "bog-offs" on oil then most car clubs will disappoint. If you are looking to enhance your enjoyment of the car through meeting some like-minded people, getting involved on some first-rate events (like Gang-on-Th-Green) and generally making friends, having a beer and dinner or two then yes the TVRCC is an excellent club. As regards comments on Sprint, if people haven't bothered to open it in the last few months then I can only say you must be bored with TVRs full stop. Tuned Cerbera not of interest? Imaculate Grantura, T440's at Le Mans? Come on, get real, what do you expect from a club mag'!!! Rich...
