I agree with everything you've said other than requesting your deposit back - here are my reasons why you should wait until signed off and tested car.

1. They may make it look better
2. If they don't make it look better, it could be an amazing drive (ariel atom/nomad/gumpert appollo/caterham etc. not particularly attractive cars but driving sensation overrides)
3. The first 500 cars could be loss leaders and if 2 above, will be much sought after
4. Engine longevity should be good
5. Daily driver credentials so can be enjoyed more than just a sunny weekend every now and then
6. Keeps your left arm and leg from falling off due to lack of use
7.
8.
9.

Please feel free to add, I need to have breakfast.

What I'm trying to say is your deposit is safe, if you can keep it there, keep it there - just be vocal about your frustration - if the car drives like it looks, get your deposit back then, just don't do anything you may regret later.

You and millions others could be right and this will not be the rebirth of TVR and getting your deposit back is absolutely the right thing to do, but you won't lose any credibility or friends if you keep it there for another year or so.

completely agree. I dont see the point of asking for your deposit back now having waited 3 years already (unless of course you need the £2500/£5000 for something else) so best sit tight and wait for further developments. I know several on here have recently asked for their deposits to be returned as they have (understandably) run out of patience. How will those former deposit holders feel once the early production run of cars is made and several cars are handed over for testing by the motoring journos who then report how amazing the car is, how its the performance bargain of the decade and so on. I for one will hang on and see what they say and what the lap times are against other cars in the same and higher price bracket. If the car, as I hope, is praised highly by the likes of Evo magazine and Chris Harris and the car can do a lap time similar to cars costing 50% more like the new Aston then I will proceed with my purchase. If they say its ok but needs to improve this and that then I will buy something else.....

I agree with most posters here that the lack of communication is not really a good thing. As everyone here knows, and i have been mocked for it, i want this car ! To my knowledge, there is no other forum/community/platform where deposit-holders, fans of the brand and other potential buyers are really discussing stuff on a regular basis. I heard they are aware of this thread, but why they don't act upon the discussions here, i don't understand, especially when people are discussing returning their deposits in numbers.

Bullitt there is a facebook group called TVR deposit holders that you might want to join. Only 40 members but we are all deposit holders as far as I can tell.

If any deposit holders on here want to join the Facebook page "TVR deposit holders" then send a request to join. Obviously, as the name suggests, it is for deposit holders only.

Stu, thanks, sounds cool. I do have to be on fb to join, don't i ? (i once was, but have disabled my account ages ago).
yes Bullitt, you need to be on Facebook but you dont need to have any friends or have a profile that identifies you personally. Join FB as Mr Bullitt McQueen! will only take a few minutes and you can also join the other FB TVR groups as there are a few now.

facebook group. just someone that started it. nothing to do with tvr
yes it is just a group started by a deposit holder for other deposit holders to join and exchange views, news and any updates. Its good in that it is only people with a deposit that are in the group so no posts about the car being rubbish or why would you spend £90k on a TVR etc.

"Big" news in the start of that release sounds like a tie-up with a major manufacturer for a bit of brand management and possibly special editions of mainstreamers. Ford sounds plausible, given the engine ?
My guess, and I have said previously makes a lot of sense, is for the car to be made in USA (or at least sold to USA market) as this will make the venture viable given the size of the US market and the fact that the Americans love a British sports car with a big yank motor in it. Emissions obviously wont be an issue.

A wise move by TVR if that is what the big news is. Good for us to as it means financial stability for TVR.

As it's August and therefore a slow news day, let's play a game of 'guess where I am in the queue'. Is there a pattern in the Reference number?

I placed my deposit on the 15th July 2015 and my reference is W52197278.

And I love the new email address! "dearies@tvr.co.uk"
I paid my deposit on 8th July (day 2) so must have a pretty good chance of being in top 50! Reckon you will be too as only a week later.

So TVR (at last) issue a lengthy update to deposit holders covering specifications, pricing, ground affect, new factory, furture updates, position in queue, driver feedback etc and still several negative posts saying car is ugly, won't sell, won't be built, is a load of waffle and so on.

What a miserable bunch of cynics you are!

I do wonder about these eventual purchasers of a £90k motor who are currently bricking it about whether their precious £5k is in jeapoardy hehe
TVR has done nothing, absolutely nothing, to suggest that deposits are not safe or they are running out of funds.

Several on here have asked for their deposits to be returned and ALL have had a refund in full without delay or aggravation. It is disingenuous to imply or infer that TVR are not being anything but honest and honourable.

Have to comment on this post re the news in the announcement

1) 'That the price of the LE car is fixed and OTR price'- think LE stands for Les Edgar!
2) 'The price of the standard car & price with full options'- All pricing is based on a business model of 1500 cars plus a year-Thats a huge number- lotus produce 1300 cars and dont make money.
3) 'Confirmed when factory will be available'- incorrect as there is an issue at government level in wales
4) 'Confirmed when we will know our build slots'- totally weird request and for the companies benefit!
5) 'Confirmed survey out in next couple of weeks'- Well we wll see but track record doesnt bode well!
6) 'Feedback from experienced driver on how car handles'- give it to someone independant for a review- its suspicious how they havent really let anyone drive it
7) 'News of significant development in production numbers/markets'- the business model is wrong and they are reviewing !
8) 'That there will be options on car regarding media package'.- should be standard these days
9) 'Confirmation of when next update will be and what it will be about'.- so now we have got to the position where the pre announce a future announcement!

sorry to be so scathing but its farcical !
*SIGH*

Having read dozens of posts on here I am concluding that PH users are generally "the glass is half empty" kind of people and find it easier to criticise rather than compliment. Quite sad really.

I can tell you now

The griffith may be the best engineered car ever but unless it IS better than a Mclaren 650/Ferrari 458/991 GT3 - no buyer will buy it because it will have no personality, it will be clinical like a Mclaren and not be as good looking (and Mclarens are ugly). It won't have the passion that Ferrari has and it won't have the track honed dna of a GT3.

There is another car on the road at the moment that actually has similar bonnet line and headlights but looks bloody gorgeous because it has a far sexier mouth. Come on TVR, listen to people. Most dislike the front end, a few don't mind it and fewer still actually like it. I haven' heard ANYONE say they LOVE it!

Here's what you could have done....

I'll join your sacrilege then Bullitt...was never a huge fan of the Sagaris (although I "get" the appeal)...much prefer the Griffith that I have..smooth lines..great proportions..and much less of an "Essex-Boy" image...

Would I be right in saying that most of the "more vocal" criticisms come from Sag owners...(no problem with that...maybe they're a different breed)...drivingdrivingdriving
LOL!!

So when I lived in Essex I owned a Griffith 500 (and a Chimaera before that)

Now I live is Suffolk I own a Sagaris (and a Cerbera before that)

Make of that what you will smilesmile
When I lived in south Essex I owned a Tuscan. Now I live in north Essex (just a couple of miles from Suffolk border) and I still own a Tuscan. LOL
