Someone asked a while back why the early car was nicknamed 'Duckpond'...I'm guessing we may have the answer now? Maybe the ducks were lured away for the photo...
A fab thread, and loads of interesting stuff. Thanks muchly to all those who've contributed.
Just wish I'd found it a little earlier in the evening
I was lucky enough to be at Ecurie25 last night and saw the beast. Lovely looking car in the flesh, the current owners have done a great job bring it back up to spec. Of all the cars there last night this one still does it for me, just such a menace and presence about it. So glad to hear that its FIA approved with no airbox restrictions and set to race in GT championship if someone buys it (£275000)... Here are some photo's of its current form.

Didn't it sell on ebay not so long ago for £135k? It's a fantastic car but I'd suspect that they won't have too many takers at that price. George 500 said:

Ok,so to sum up The Speed Twelve is a completely different car in all aspects to the Cerbera Speed Twelve and Cerbera Speed Twelve GT.
There were two running Speed Twelves,a road car and a race car both purple with possibly one or more white race cars.(Scalelectric had a purple and white Speed Twelve, joke!).
Where are they now ?
The bits bought from the factory, what were they from, The Speed Twelve or the Cerbera speed twelve ?
Now to go off the original topic !
How many Cerbera Speed Twelve and Cerbera Speed Twelve GT's were there?
I am still surprised - unless I've missed them? - that nobody has ever posted photos from 2000 when TWO Cerbera Speed Twelve race cars turned up at Silverstone for a GT round. The black car ran fine, the white one (hired to Ashley Ward and a co-driver) had lots of problems and ultimately didn't race. Somebody, somewhere, must have snaps of them sitting line astern in the Silverstone garage??There were two running Speed Twelves,a road car and a race car both purple with possibly one or more white race cars.(Scalelectric had a purple and white Speed Twelve, joke!).

Interesting pic. I was at the TVR Challenge at the weekend, and the Speed 12 came up in conversation. Nobody was sure if this car was infact a show car, with no engine, or infact had run with an engine? Edit just seen that John cleared this up earlier.

Hello everyone! I have joined these forums JUST to set the record straight on the Speed 12, and Cerbera Speed 12. I've amassed massive knowledge on the car from speaking to engineers who worked on it, people who drove it, people who saw it etc etc. So here is the full history to my knowledge! (This is picture intense!) :
Right, first came project 7/12. This was the 'Duckpond' referred to earlier. A mockup with no working parts:
Then came a second mock up. This had propper wheels etc, but no engine. I recently saw a picture in the front of Sprint Magazine that looked like this, only it was a recent picture. Has it been fitted with an engine of some description? The body shell was seen somewhere in the midlands by someone on this forum a while ago for thos who recall.
Then came a racing GT1 car:
Same as this car seen on the JC vid:
Resprayed to purple, it looked like this:
GT regulations caused the Speed 12 to be scrapped. However, a new GT2 racer was concocted using the same engine, but few other parts. The basic design was of a Cerbera, only lower, wider, and with more aggressive styling. It was known as the Cerbera Speed 12.
Here is the Cerbera Speed 12 mockup:
A blue race car, and a white race car then appeared. few pictures of the white race car exist (one is in the history section of www.speed12.info). Both raced in 2001, but the white car then disappeared. Race results here:

Pic of the blue race car without stickers:
With sponsor stickers:
A silver road car appeared at a similar time to the blue race car, and was in issues of Evo and Top Gear. Here it is:
This car was then re-sprayed into this:
Meanwhile, a new race car appeared. It had new bodywork, and was black:
When the Cerbera Speed 12 project fell apart, the last generation race car bodywork was used for the road car, the famous W112 BHG(which is the same car as W312BHg and W312BFV):
Finally, various parts from race car shells have been bought up by different people. There's rumours of either the White Speed 12, or the White Cerbera Speed 12 being a pace car in japan (any pics, info?). There's one Cerbera Speed 12 being rebuilt by someone on this forum, and there's also one near Sheffield according to another of my sources. There is also the mysterious picture in the front of Sprint Magazine. Here is the pic of the one being rebuilt by someone on this forum:
Read this with some interest.... at the Silverstone race you listed we were running the Hayles Vipers and remember the Speed 12.It was certainly a thundering beast, even next a V10 viper. A while later we were running the 400r's (DeWalt colours then), I went to the factory and remember a Speed 12 sitting in the corner of their shop. IIRC it had been sold and was on its way out, though I may be wrong! Right, first came project 7/12. This was the 'Duckpond' referred to earlier. A mockup with no working parts:
