Why do I get the impression that we're rapidly heading towards the Monty Python "Four Yorkshiremen" sketch?

But mine was 'standard' road car engine and a mere 2 litres with a small turbo!

Luxury. Pah. Every morning I would get up and take all the spark plugs out, lick inside of cylinder clean with tongue, crush half a ton of nutty slak into dust wi'me bare hands, put it in the fuel tank and then push the car to the circuit....

The 520 is standard ish... It's still got its CD player.

Well before I could fill up with petrol I had to lick road clean with tongue....

Well before I could fill up my dad would thrash us with the breadknife......

I see what you mean, but unless you run an F1 car or a top-fuel dragster, then Steve's 2mpg is going to take some beating!

I've done close on 100 miles in my mates Corsa and the needle doesn't appear to be moving. It's just resting on the reserve border thingy.

What warning light? I thought you only got a warning light on the newer Chimaeras (newer than my 1995 model anyway).

No fuel light on mine - it just reliably runs out just above E!

Just filled up my 96 Griff 500 with 47 litres after 241 miles which I think is about 23mpg which is exactly what the previous owner told me it would be!

Fast Lane mid-thrash refuelling - now there's a thought! Pop the boot release and get the girlfriend to crawl out the back on a harness, unscrew the fuel cap and guide the hose. Hmmm. Maybe Leven could work on a gadget for this.....

I should have had one of them re-fueling pointy bits in me pocket as I left Duxford. Few old radio sets knocking around as well so must be easy to con the RAF into a few liters every now and then

I've never had more than 189 miles (achieved this weekend) out of my 4 litre Chimaera.

Think I'm going to go and get it tuned - my wallet can't stand the pain any longer.

Like Davidy, I got 57 miles out of my scooby on a track day at Goodwood. You could appreciably watch the needle drop each time you went down the start/finish straight.

Wheeeee.

Actually, I'd just filled it up when I wrote it off. So I suppose that's about 12 gallons for the last mile.

Talk about unlucky!! If that's not rubbing salt in your wound I don't know what is!

Still, I douubt anyone's going to beat that consumption figure so there is a very thin silver lining. I wouldn't suggest anyone else follows this line of attack however.
