Must say, though not overly surprised, that the reaction of most people to this has been what I would have hoped for. thumbup
I do see the funny side, just. But before I could giggle I was already having sympathy for the owner of that porker.
Let's hope that the person that did that was just momentarily thoughtless. I doubt real damage was intended; but as most of us know, and some from harsh experience, that can leave a nasty mess to try and get rid of.

It's just not right.

TVR owner's by their nature tend to to be car enthusiasts to the core, most speak of the feelings they have driving, and even just looking at their car's, not something someone who owns and drives a common focus and the like that is used just as transport, and is often regarded like a white goods purchase, no emotion no feelings involved, thus I have an empathy towards other peoples car's that possibly the "normal "person wouldn't ..... or I take the view that I wouldn't like it done to mine, so wouldn't do it to others either.

Yes, it's not straight, and the front wheels are probably over the left side white line, but I search for those spots/spaces every time I park my Chimaera.
End parking bay, get the tyres on the outer white line to give the person next to me as little chance as possible to fling their door into mine.

I am a stickler for straight, centred parking when forced to use a middle bay, but end bays are my car's paintwork saviour.
I park even more defensively than I drive.

Stone chips are an inevitability, door prangs are just carelessness.

Not nice. Since we can see his number plate, perhaps somebody should offer commiserations and an apology if DVLA can pass it on. His reply, if any, would be interesting! His other car may even be a TVR.

What does that thing cost, look at the state of it, bloody funny, where's your sence of humour, I'm sure the guy can afford it and probably found it funny and if he was cursing Tvr owners then its even funnier.

I would be seething if that were my car, it will need a severe T-cut at best, and a mop at worst, but vandalism is vandalism, that person has probably worked hard and put alot on the line to get that.

LM12 probably still seething. Commiserations perhaps not enough. Would try Frecla G3 first. I've Used it with success on my rear plastic window and a handbag scratch scuff on boot lid. Try a small finger area first. Rub until powder dry.

I do not condone damage to any cars but I do think that done gently in the wet grime there will be no damage on that paintwork.
+1
And it probably got that filthy from trying to keep up with TVR, and getting sprayed by the superior machines rear tyres. smile

FFS Its a car, not a human being. The driver will most likely be pissed off, but will live to tell the tale and no doubt look back in amusement in a little time; or; even after a few suds and wet sponge has been thrown over it… which it needs!

On the other hand, approximately 21k people have died in the world today of starvation. Now there's a crappy day...

+1 I must have just bashed my finger with the hammer working on the car!

But the way that's parked the guy owns the town anyway. Lazy

That's what got me, its the little things.

I've got a mental age of twelve, excuse my ignorance and I never meant to raise your blood level lads.

If that leaves marks that's out of order. Didn't think it would harm a Porsche paint job!

Call me inspector Clouseau,

But, the post was written my Mickywoosh…. The Photos shows a 911 997 that’s been TVRed…

If you look at Mickywoosh’s profile, you can see that he owns at 911 997 and a TVR 350…

So I think that maybe he did this to his own car…?

Mickywoosh, not sure if my detective works is right…?

Anyway, the photos made me smile, but I do agree that if it was my car and someone had done this to it, I would be pissed off… (and I am not the kind of guy who has a perfect car: mechanically my Chimera 500 is pretty good: full service history, lots of work done when I bought it, only 36k miles from new, the engine is pulling really strong… but it often looks like it could do with a wash / polish / wax… the car is made for driving right…. I think people who drive the car for 1 h and spent 3 hours cleaning it are a little sad, but again, each on their own and respect to their car if it is show room clean and had a detailed engine bay… Mine is often one of the dirtiest out there when I go to a car met, so much so that when I went to TVR at Goodwood and I had the dirtiest of all the VRs being tracked, I wrote “TVR” in huge letter with my own spit on my own bonnet….)…

I love TVRs: so much so that I am keeping mine, even though I have done hardly no miles in it since they last service: maybe 300 since last may (our first baby arrived in May and we bought a house, so with the baby and the move there is not much time to use a car that can only seat 2 off us) and if money permits, in the near future I might consider buying a 4 seater TVR (or swapping the Chimaera for a Cerbera)…. Or get a 911 (and keep the TVR).

Come on guys, let’s stop being childish her, TVR are greats, but Porches too, I would like one guy here who owns a TVR and who would say “no thanks” if he had the opportunity to keep the TVR and get a Porsche (or let’s say if someone gave him a Porsche… Remember one thing: Porche do not need a new chassis after 15 years or so, most of the TVR do… and Porsche have not gone bust…. 2 – 3 times in the last 5 – 6 years…

I do think that money for fun, nothing compares to the TVRs and I did a lot of “Porches chasing … “ on the way to Le Mans Classic a couple of years ago…. But there is no denying, Porches makes so good / fast / reliable / safe and fast sports cars… in which you can fit 4 adults and will go from A to B safely and without requiring a new chassis …

Just saying…

Frenchie!

PS: Frenchda, your sticker is quite fun, but technically it’s not written right: it should be:
« TVR parce que LES Porsches sont pour les filles »
Or
« TVR parce que Porsche c’est pour les filles »
Bet the guy who was behind you in the train with his GT3 must have been in front not too long after… well, if he has balls…? After all, a GT3 goes better that a 4L Chimaera and probably a 5L too…?

Anyway, safe trucking everyone, in Porsche and TVR and other cars for a matter of fact… god job we can have those bunters, if not lunch breaks at the desk would get boring…?

Good work inspector Clouseau and I like what's written afterwards.

I have always gone with the attitude that "Porsche for girls" runs on the same lines as the TVR banter between Chimaera and Griff owners.

When ever I've been at a car meeting I've never witnessed anything but friendship from the Griff boys,in fact many of them have proudly opened their shirt and showed their hairy chest and medallion with nothing but pride laugh

I would always buy a TVR over the Boxster range but the 911, Gt3 and Cayman are growing on me year by year as I'm getting older. Performance, four seats, comfortable, nice looks, everyday reliability in general all sounds good to me.

If I had the budget to run both I'm be tempted, but if I had the budget I would also love to put a Griffith 500 SE sitting next to my Chimaera banghead

I think if I ever went the 911 route I'd have to get some kind of sticker saying " TVR boys I'm just trying something different after 3 TVR's... so Leave me alone"

PS... Frenchietvr... You really should try and find some time to get out 300 miles is a crime cry

Erm Cayman is 2 seats smile Bloody good though.

I have grown up and a Lotus Evora has effectively replaced the Tuscan. Not as fast in a straight line and not as loud or as dramatic, but probably better in every other way, but it was a close run thing, nearly chose a 997.

Frenchie,

You are indeed a professional Inspector Clouseau. I am fortunate enough to have both a T350c for special days and a 997 911 C4S for everyday! Fortunately/unfortunately, that's not my car though - would love a 911 GTS but they are seriously holding their value.

Like you, I've followed the debate on the merit of graffiti with interest. I did find it quite funny when I first saw it but It didn't occur to me at the time that the 'artist' may have scratched the paintwork. I've often seen the car parked at the station so I'll take a close look next time and see if there are any longterm scratches.

I could live with that smile Can't remember what post it came from but a stunning picture was posted of a Cayman then he directed me to this clip.

Apologies for going off topic. But if you like cars I can not see how you can't like this. Lovely piece of music finishes the video from 20.20
