Don't mean to be rude but everyone here seems to be moaning about the increase. Isn't Ted's post about whether this will be voted in or not?

So stop moaning about an extra £5 (which hasn't been applied yet) and vote against the raise!

Alternatively, go along, hassle the comittee to declare what the money will be for (salaries, computers, diesel, whatever) and make an informed decision.

Rob

What annoys me most is not whether I, or the rest of the membership, shall vote for it, against, abstain or just not bother.

It is the fact that they have the gall, the bare-faced cheek, to even ask for the extra money.

i don't believe that any apparent advantanges can't be gained elsewhere. Thanks TVRCC - you've made my mind up for me.

I guess some people are car-club types and some are not - simple as that.

I'm beginning to think that the membership are seen as gullible suckers who'll pay through the nose whatever they're told to, or people who aren't.

So the people that are happy paying £35, what would your upper limit be? When does it stop being good value for money, you all drive TVR's so money really isn't an object is it, we can all afford £100 a year it's only 3 tanks of petrol
I was hopeing the vote would be postal as attending AGM's is just to depressing 'motion carried'

......a great Thai meal with Podie & N17 TVR & Missus N17 TVR

Seriously though folks, I didn't really see myself as "a car club person", but if all the rest of the regions are as well organised and welcoming as Mid Essex, membership shouldn't be a problem.

However I can also see why not everyone is going to do cartwheels at the thought of paying an additional Muff for membership.

Here, here!!

Previously, I would have been with the "you're not getting my fiver" camp, but since visiting Mid-Essex, and was entered on their email list, there is more TVRCC stuff to do than I can shake a TVR at. My £30/£35 seems to be going a long way, and I've met many nice peeps through the meets too.

So I have to agree, membership offers as much, or as little value as you make of it....

I haven't received Sprint (and hence the form) yet so I don't know the answer to this.

Can you vote either by post or by proxy, i.e. fill in the form and hand it to someone who is going?

If voting is restricted only to members that are present how can decisions be fairly represented? Is someone from Oop North really going to come all the way down just to vote? And see some Tuscan racing. Possibly not.

Anyone fill me in (no double entendres or Craig David jokes)

if people haven't bothered to open it in the last few months then I can only say you must be bored with TVRs full stop. Tuned Cerbera not of interest? Imaculate Grantura, T440's at Le Mans? Come on, get real, what do you expect from a club mag'!!! Rich...

Hmmm. Don't think I am bored with TVR's, or I wouldn't be here on this site. The Le Mans thing just went on too much, for my personal taste. But I would guess may others can't get enough of it. As for the other stuff in the magazine, I'm affraid it just doesn't do it for me. Every week (at least) I scour the magazine shelves looking for any article that has the least thing to do with TVR. But 10 minutes with the last two Sprints exhausted my interest in them.
I'm really glad if people like it, and, for a car club mag, I'm sure it is superb. But it's not enough to hold me.

Our monthly meetings are quite well attended, strangely more so during the winter months and via them I have met some very good friends, so much so that we almost have our own little breakaway faction during the summer, and I can see these people without being in any club , without the club I may not have met them but I think as they only live a few miles away I probably would have
If I don't renew, it's not till May, it will not inpact on me until October 2004 and then the meeting will be in a Public House and I'll not be turned away
If the car club wants me as a member I'm going to have to see an improvement in the 'benifits' that make it value for money, come back, 2 for 1 tuscan tickets, lets have some more regular competitions in the magazine for small prizes, etc, I was all set to organise our regions 'Motorsport' section but that never got of the ground.
They've got 5 months before it effects me so I'm prepared to give them a chance

Thats actually a good point, I know a sticker is only pence in value, but getting one each year would be nice, you might have changed cars, replaced a windscreen, you might want one for the runabout, or how about a choice, a new sticker or a £5 TVRCC voucher to spend in the shop or on an 'event' it's the little things that ease the pain of opening my wallet
(I've not seen this months Sprint yet so if anythings mentioned in there that I've ranted about sorry

what a load of moaning B----cks

Come on and get a grip

raceboy - no they wont throw you out of the pub - but the paid up members will soon get aresd off with you if you dont pay and they do and you think that you are still entitled to take a piece of the pie!

The £5 will go towards some expenses
Perhaps if things are to get better and bigger then the TVRCC events etc will need the extra money

The efforts of a few to get the masses to wthdraw will make it a self fulfilling prophecy.
Less money = less events -"see told ya it wouldnt get any better"

What we need now is support - a new committee and a new events team.
Watch and learn!

There will be a new events team - A coordinator and a sub committee who will help out (thats if you all vote for her)
There will be a new chairman -if you vote for him!

Now should be an exciting time - when you all see the possibilites of moving forward and upward.

Forget the past year! Its gone and nowt you can do - but those responsible may be gone!

Help out - vote - make suggestions - send in articles for Sprint - photos (not every month or Ill get nowt in! )

The events calendar will become a differnet one from the past few years - mark my words - Want a weekdn do in the North Yorks Dales where you can drive the roads we love (no cameras)? Ill do it!

Want a track weekend mania in France? We can?

Holiday in Spain for 9 days? - being done!

We are even going to suggest that talks begin with Ted on Forum amalgamation!???

As for Le Mans - I think that membership monies were not used to sponsor? I might be wrong?
Springbok - do you know the definitive answer?

I though specific events were lad on to raised the money - such a back home auction?

Ill conclude by stating There are a lot of new bods who wish to push this gang in the right dircetion. Its overwhelming the support thats out there - whats needed is a committee to harness that support and channel it into producing a club you want.

You have a vote - it is postal - so no need like this boy from OOP North (who yes is driving down to Kent cos he cares) to drive there - just USE YOUR VOTE and think positive
Simpo One - do a u turn mate

Well like I said, you've got till May to turn it around, can't say fairer than that
So who are the new bods we need to vote in to push things forward, it is obvious when I see the form
I would like to see the club go forward onto bigger and better things, but at the moment it's going backwards and getting more expensive
I hope you can pull it off and make it a better club for everyone (but you can never please everyone all the time)
Good luck and I hope I'm still a member this time next year, unless the urge for Pork gets too great
