Now very worried!
Given that I have a severe case of road rash I will be looking at a front end respray over winter but it would seem to be a minefield.
I live near Warwick so would appreciate private email to say who is god/bad in my area. Or do I have to travel to Blackpool?
Sorry I can't pick up on the various hints but not been at this game long enough.

My car was repaired and resprayed by Ryan at SP Automotive in Chester. I would highly recommend him. http://www.spautomotive.co.uk/#!contact/cgbdGiven that I have a severe case of road rash I will be looking at a front end respray over winter but it would seem to be a minefield.

Ok I might have over reacted, but you have to admit the people who done Chris's car totally fked it up.
I still want my callipers re-done properly, though....and windscreen re-mounted and sealed correctly...

I had a pressie last night from S&D, they dropped a couple of pieces of paint round to me from when they stripped my car. I say pieces as these were sheets, about a foot at least in length and way thicker than the test cards they supplied me with alternate colours on. Paint should never come off in bloody great pieces, if I remember when I get home I'll take some pics. This stuff is thicker than many metal panels on normal cars....

So, you're offering me something a foot long and filled with nuts.............I've had worse offers
advice duly noted though
Good reply made me laugh, so sorry about my first comments, totally unacceptable .advice duly noted though
Sorry once again
I had my p&j sprayed a few months back by Chris Gregory in Knaresborough, North Yorks. Never heard of him before but came highly recommended by a specialist I use, so I asked on here & all came back positive so went for it. I asked them to document the whole job with photographs (just for my records really) which is also a good way to see what they've done throughout.
My point being that you should NEVER use someone just because of how big an outfit they are or because they're a 'specialist', but rather word of mouth from people with first-hand experience. It nearly always seems to be that you get a much better, more personal experience from smaller outfits. Indeed I use a local VAG specialist a lot of the time for mechanicals because I know they do great work and most importantly I know I can trust them.
Just to add if you're looking for a good paint shop, this is what Chris did for me:

According to a post in one of the TVR FB groups, the guy (DKERR84) whose thread was removed, relating to his experience with a certain specialist, has put his Chim up for sale:

It would be very sad if this sale is because of his recent experiences.

Unfortunately, that doesn't always work either. I had a small, long-standing TVR bodyshop do some repairs and paint for me on one of my cars, and they made a real mess - drips in the paint, overspray, repair work easily visible....Ryan
They had previously done a couple of smaller paint jobs for me on another TVR, the results of which were fine. I should have taken the car back, but after the interminable wait and constant delaying by them, I really lost faith. I've never used them again, and they're still going. I first came across them on the back of an advert in the TVRCC magazine, where they still appear.

In some ways, that's actually quite impressive...It's very thick and like with the previous pics you can see all the individual layers very clearly. They were quite appalled at the quality of the previous work.
To give an example of the customer service at the original place, I was told my car was not in perfect condition prior to the work being done, their reason? Because many of the paint defects were pre-existing. You see they only painted the front 3/4 and rear qtr.
When I showed them a photo of my car in their workshop fully stripped back and in full primer they just went quiet and refused to speak to either myself or the inspectors. How can a paint defect be pre-existing when it was fully painted by them?

Did drop you a PM, but obviously hasn't appeared. You still got your virgin email address?
