Could we bee seeing the start of another TVR race series???

Hope so!!
Dont need one - all are welcome into the challenge series!

as for the car I think its great and agree with JOhn ( TVR Owner) no-one would really care if he blatted off into the distance, its just great to have him back.

Also - I tend to agree with Roop, it does have a certain Tuscan stance about it.

Lets get him out in the TVR Challenge next year - then we can all moan about what clas he goes in! biggrin

The 5000M is stunning, but what about building something more contempary looking ?

Here's an idea for competitive GT cars idea.

Use a lightweight, Sagaris inspired bodyshell ,then add Aero.
Evolve a chassis based on the design used on the mighty Tuscan Challenge race car.
Fit a 6 speed sequential gearbox - designed and built in house.
Spend a couple of seasons developing them on the race track.
Power them by a modern , 500 bhp Chevrolet LS engine.
Ensure they're developed and built by ex TVR Engineers.
Build them at Bristol Avenue.
Race them.
Build some more.

Now that would brighten things up in 2009 scratchchin

There's a rumour round here that it's actually 7 litres....

What class in the Challenge would that put him in? biggrin

You can bet it is not a 302!

Wheeler would never appear in the TVRCC series as it is not. Herittage is fairly high profile and arcing with People like Turtle, Rouse, Jardine, etc.

His engine could be easily 331 or even 351 no one would care in Heritage. It is fairly open.

The dry qualy time of 55.3 was well Ok but nothing special when you consider it has a chassis 4 inches longer than a Griff (the original not the 90's on - that is the same wheelbase), and 1.7" wider at the point the wheels bolt on the proper 3000/2500/1600M chassis. If a stroker lump it should make an easy 500bhp (i.e. more than a Tuscan ever had), and it is running in huge tyres, not sure if slicks 1b tyres, but very wide.

I'd expect it down a few seconds at least on that dry time if the above is taken into account.

John,
It was first time out in not very good conditions and the drivers are hardly out every week end.

Cut the guys some slack, life's not all about being super competitive all the time, sometimes its about fun and a sense of acheiving something. 10 or 15 years time maybe you'll come to realise that.

Yep semi agree. Would be interesting to know what size Ford is in it though (obviously not a 302) as the the whoel Heritage thing is to have a vagely stdish looking car but with the biggest most powerful iteration of the lump that was orginally in it. The Green Aston is the one at SPA 1 hour (7.0) and you can bet Thurtles Monster Camaro is 6.6 to 7.1 SBC.

Someone should try to email or call him and see if he might get out in the TVR series.

Not at Shell now?

Hi John,
I'm busy working in Germany managing part of a Refinery upgrade - not for Shell though.

I get home when I want (within reason) it pays enough to cover domestic bills, go racing and have some left over - result happiness. Hopefully everything will stay that way so I can start my Griff project this year.... with luck! biggrin

By the way, my first time out on skinny slick tyres at a cold but dry Brands I managed to get into the 58s (in a real M with tractor engine) - does that make me a slug?? frown

Get that M out in the Thoroughbreds next year. That is a not a bad time not sure what grunt (from the Essex)or how much slicks are better than 048's (not much I think).

Great things come to those who are prepared to wait - either Smolenski hires a few good folks (and listens to them for a change) to get things up and running on a small scale himself... or he'll be wanting to cut his losses at some point (and given the current economic climate, that point could be sooner rather than later).

It has come to my attention that the Oxley complete set no longer work for Smolenski. All gone, none left.

Good news before Christmas then.

Maybe he will now get some one who knows what the buyer / fan base is and get some cars made to sell.

To dream, Oxley's don't take it personally, you have a fair run.

I hope you have a few bob then, if I remember correctly he had to buy it twice. For some reason he didn't get the name when he bought the company, or something like that. No doubt someone who remembers the details will be on here soon.

Wasn't it that the rights to the name ended up within the realms of the manufacturing section - that section was then taken into receivership. Which he then had to buy back to retain the rights ?

This follows on from his (lack of) due diligence when originally buying the company and (seemingly overlooking) the fact that the lease was due to expire on the factory.

Boy, does he need some better lawyers - or ones that seem to be able to read anyhow hehe All IMHO of course.

Is it confirmed that the Oxley posse have left town ?

This is why I hardly bother with the section!

It all come back to "Will TVR ever get going again!"

Christ get over it. No.

Move on - there is more fun to be had with cars like this that are no longer produced!

Healey, Triumphs and load more are Great marques but not in production - Embrace it FFS.

As for the comments about the eligibility of the cars I think that is very much one for the people directly involved in running and competing in the championship. I have never seen a copy of the R&Rs but the ‘impression’ I get is that so long as your car is from the right era and isn’t silly amounts faster than the others on the grid you are welcome. I’ve spent a fair amount of time with a number of the people involved in the HGTC and it has one of the best ‘atmospheres’ of any paddock I have encountered over the years.
Very true it is buls&*t free motorsport and is the best way!!!! IMHO

Jellison, why don't you buy an MGB and join the mgb forum in a far away land. I fully understand the backlash and my pending banishment from this forum/website and I couldn't care less. A few years ago the Pistonheads TVR forum was a good place to debate or even just read opinions of intelligent folk. It seems that nowadays the vast majority of interesting stuff/individuals has moved on and been replaced by a load of bitter nobs and pub talk. Anyone who publishes a picture of their own helmet with flowers on whilst bad-talking a bloke who has been the backbone of British car design and manufacture for 25 years should have a serious look at themselves. What have you achieved Jellison? What qualifies you to be so judgemental?

One thing I have noticed is that as companies like Audi, BMW and Porsche have jumped into TVR's teritory since 1992 ish, the new/important money that fed TVR has dried up. TVR owners since then seem to be either hard core enthusiasts or people who used to drive Maestro turbos, feed their kids on bread only and have a female friend named Tracey. This idividual is probably a none university educated working class demick and alwasy aspired to a TVR but couldn't afford one till now. Am I right Jellison?

Well gb8888 you may even find some of the hard core enthusiasts who own TVRs and even race them may not be university educated and can spell, censored
