ISTR they used to do solar-powered battery conditioners in the Innovations catalogue. For someone with no access to a permanent supply (i.e. car left on driveway or street) maybe this would work?

I tried the solar powered charger when I had the Chimaera but found it could not keep pace with the constant current drain of about 200ma with alarm & imobliser on.With the Tuscan I got an Accumate battery conditioner & this has been very good also am sure it has extended the battery life as now over three years old.

I have used a Draper Battery Master (£20 from Halfwits) for about 3 yrs with no battery problems. It's just a 300mA trickle charger but does the trick. If you want added security and safety get an Accu/OptiMate from Leven for the £45.
