If youve already got a van go for it, run the van when its snowing and the Tuscan when its not, try to get an "S" spec if you can but then again am biased!

Front and rear spoiler, bigger bore exhaust more BHP 20-30 ??, rear indicators built into the body not up high in the rear window like standard Tuscan.

Off topic and I don't mean to be a bore, but where are people getting insurance quotes of circa. £1,200 on Tuscans?

I'm currently shopping around for Chimaera insurance and cannot get close. I'm 24 but it could be to do with lack of NCB.

S gives bigger brakes, better suspension geometery, hids and dab as standard, close ratio box, redsigned rear end with lip spoiler, front splitter. Obviously these uprgrades mean they fetch a premium price and there is not too many around.

I got my quote at 24 after writing my previous car off from admiral but had to use a 800quid excess and i stay in a low rate crime zone and do less than 4000 miles, quotes will vary by models also.

I use confused.com

Standard car
my own policy
i say its left on the road, usually makes it £100 cheaper to insure.
No tracker, £50 cheaper
10000 miles a year
Social, domestic and comuting

22 at the moment, with 2 year NCB

a little trick I have come up with is ask for confused to start the policy 30 days in the future, i found for me it can knock upto £200 off the price, then phone them, when they say its £1400 for the cover, argue the point they quoted £1200.. I have never failed with this.
The best companies to "play" are admiral and elephant, they are the same company, but the compete at the same time. Doing this, I saved my self £360 this year.
Just got to know how to play the system, but staying legal at the same time.

the quote for £1100 i got hasnt had anything done to it.. playing companies off each other etc.. I know by the time I have done ill be paying no more then £900, fully comp#

Try MSM Insurance. I paid circa £1100 for the Cerbera at 21 and only a tiny bit more for the current Tuscan. There are deals to be had out there.

Using a TVR as a daily would be a no-no for me. As far as I'm concerned, they're just not as much fun during bad weather. It's paying extra money on fuel over the daily and putting more miles on the TVR when I would much rather be doing the same journey in the other car. TVRs are an indulgence, not a necessity IMHO. They come into their own on a dry, sunny day. Tip-toeing around in heavy rain or snow isn't my idea of a good time.

There's an insurance list on the TVR forum. If you plan to do less than 5000 miles a year try a classic policy. No need for an NCB. Mannings, Classic Line, Adrian Fux. Etc

When my mileage in one TVR started to climb I bought another, and then another... must have done 300k+ miles in TVR's now. Use is key to reliability IMHO.
