700 BHP - and unique
Discussion
700bhp? Think you'll find it's nearer 900bhp.
I was one of the TVRCC members staffing the stand over the weekend, so I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I made the spec sheets for each car that were on the little stands, so I know the details.
It's unfortunate you didn't get to chat to the owner, I had the pleasure of his company for two days so got most of the questions out of my system. I also had the pleasure of piloting the vehicle out of the trailer Thursday night, so I'm considering myself lucky.
The car is in a deep red colour, it looks very nice. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

well it doesnt appear to be sporting a tax disk

I cannot say what the car sounds like, as we did not start the car, just pushed it into place. It has been started at the factory however and the owner has been told (he hasn't heard it either) that it produces a very loud, deep tone - apparently somewhat resembling an erupting volcano.
It does have the sequential transmission.
The owner intends to use it on track days, doubtful if he will drive it on the road. It will be road legal however.
The owner has not yet driven it, as it is still undergoing work at the TVR factory.
The bodywork on the car is the standard road-going Speed 12 glass-fibre bodywork (well I say standard, they've only ever made 2 of them) - however the owner is having the last ever carbon-fibred Speed 12 GT bodywork fitted (they made 3 of them). It would have been fitted in time for the GFoS, but they hadn't got around to spraying it red. The car will have a large wing on the back when it is "finished", so that may well reduce the cars tops speed below the estimated 240mph. It will definately still break the double-ton, however.
It has also been tested as the quickest road car to accelerate from 100mph to 200mph.
Also when testing the engine, they managed to sheer off the crank in the dyno, which is rated at 1000lb ft. They have never managed to successfully dyno-test the engine. However they did test each bank seperately, and the engine is suspected to produce around 940bhp. This figure isn't definate however, hence why I put 900+bhp on the spec sheet.
Anything else?
P.S. I think that's the owner with his arms folded in the picture.

I'd love to be at the first track day he uses it on!
Sorry to brag, but the owner has offered a few of us on the stand just that, including myself.
The owner will drive it around which track they decide on, then he will get the TVR Le Mans race driver Michael Caine to take him out. Then the passenger seat will become a revolving door - I suspect among us at TVRCC there will be a few of the factory workers who helped build the car, probably Ben Samuleson too and maybe even Wheeler himself (who I saw at Le Mans this year but didn't speak to - he seems taller than in the photos).
As for figures, there is nothing official yet - I doubt the press will be seeing the car again.
The only figures I have found for the car are:
0-60: probably all estimates, between 2.9 and 3.1 seconds
0-100: 6.3 seems to crop up the most for the road car, with 5.8 being quoted for the GT racer (due to it's slick tyres and it's gearing being short - the racer is geared to do only 185mph).
100-200: No idea on times, I just heard it mentioned that it was the quickest.
Just to go slightly off subject, but talking speed 12's
I once had a Nissan sunny GTiR and had taken it to Bruntingthorpe to thrash its little goolies off !!!
That day there were two cars on track, myself and a white TVR speed 12, i talked to the scruffy looking gentleman for some time quizzing him about power and the handling.
later during a magazine interview in Autocar or some other glossy i realised i had been talking to Peter Wheeler.
Anyway I was flat out on the straight at just under 150 mph when a white flash went past me with a shockwave of thunderous noise, he must have been doing a good 70 mph faster than me!!!!
I have some photos of the cars parked together both cooling with the bonnets up !!
I have never heard or seen anything like it before or after

I'm sure if evry TVR owner had a few £K's to spare we'd all have a speed12 in the garage.
Me, I love all the stories that come out about it. Interestingly enough as race car, at the drivers brief at Le Mans this year Michael Caine thought the current GT car is probably quicker around a circuit. I know thats not the same as the road version, but all inresting stuff IMHO.
more of it please

aha - that appears the one that racing green had for sale at £120k when I first went up there. Very nice too
When I saw it at GWFoS, I assumed it was the Racing Green car. (They let me sit in that one).
I thought it was #150k, but don't want to split hairs. That price was without engine, which may explain the wheel arch void.

I had a look through the front wheel arches and there didn't appear to be an engine in it...
You weren't supposed to notice!
The engine was still at the factory being tuned up and tested, hence the gap between the wheel and the arch looked a bit large at the front. Yes, the car was on sale at Racing Green, it then went to Castle TVR, when it was then bought by Kerry. Interestingly, he is a Professor of Health & Safety. And, unsurprisingly, he's a touch mad (well you'd have to be woudn't you?).
He would like a Sagaris too but only if he can get the Typhon engine in it. The factory are trying but are having problems with the engine overheating.
It wouldn't surprise me if the T440R entered into Le Mans was quicker around the track - even though it's only got 485bhp (well I say only), I would imagine it handles much better. Michael Caine has driven a Speed 12 GT and said it was just too powerful and you were basically just out of control. And to think the Speed 12 racecars were limited to 660bhp due to the air restrictors...
Any questions about the other cars? I suspect most of you didn't notice, but there were infact 3 other cars on the stand...
