Griff or Chim?
Discussion
I am thinking of buying either a Griff 500 or a Chim 500 in the next couple of months. I know both cars quite well, as I already have a TVR.
What I truly can't decide on is which looks better? One day I think has to be the Chim - very classic look, bigger boot etc. Then I look at a Griff and change my mind. Then I think, ok the Chim is a bit more forgiving, then I think I want a totally uncompromised machine and that's the Griff.
It's a very close run thing.
Any ideas?

Griff for me.
When (not if....) I get one, I have pondered the same question.
I like the shape of the chim, and indeed the greater practicality of it. However, for me it will not be used daily, and consequently the more brutish Griff wins hands down due to the fact it doesn't need to be that practical. As long as it gets minisilverback and me in it, it's practical enough...
Mrs silverback's previous time with me driving a griff resulted in her screaming above a somewhat lively engine noise...."STOP GOING SOOOOO FAST" with bulging eyes and slightly pale skin (Not on a public road I must add)
Needless to say, she will not get involved in TVR shenanigans any longer....
Go for the Griff...

I think that's kind of where I'm heading Mike - and the Griff is rarer so that's a plus.
It will be a weekend car so practicality is not a big issue - although boot space for a few days away is useful.
Still a very close run thing though. I suspect which ever one I buy I'll probably think I should have bought the other...

Ive had a Griff 500, then went for a Cerbera Speed Six and after a 3 year lay off am now back in a .....Chimaera. Mainly boot space issue, plus wanted to try something different.
I would say though, that if I could have found a 5.0 Chim, the it would have won hands down, nice and practical yet with bags of oomph.
I really suspect its down to you and you will suddenly just see THE car one day, everything will be right, colour, price, mileage condition etc and chances are you wont even notice if its a griff or chim as everything else will fall into place.

It’s a Griffith for me any day. I’ve thought about swapping mine for a Chim because it’s more practical for touring but I love the looks and purpose of the Griff. It is simple beautiful from any angle and it is all about performance.
The car just feeds your senses when you hit a bit of open road and open it up. It’s totally absorbing to drive it and nothing else matters when you get clear of the traffic.
Pure TVR to me with no frills but all the thrills

One's a beatiful no-compromise hairy-chested classic, the other looks like an MG...
In fact so much so that they were going to call it PG and then realised it might have been a bit too close. Then that PG tips advert came on the TV with the Chimps on it and the Chim was born!
Griffith = Firebreathing super fast agile but yet graceful monster machine.
Chim = Golf cart
(I like both really but just cant resist the abuse hurling. To the original poster, buy which every you prefer. But I can strongly recommend joining the dark side
