Is it the Lotus owners winding us TVR owners up on their site? Knowing that someone would post it here and 300 TVR P'headed people would pick up on it and rave about the news?
But it could be for real as I seem to recall reading about this already on Pistonheads, but I am hopeless at putting links in threads.

Much of what he's saying has been corroborated elsewhere.

There's talk of demonstrators being taken back by the factory to be used as loan cars to customers who have had deliveries delayed.

Production has definitely been halted for some models whilst quality is improved.

Interesting to hear of the new factory though. I bet they could do a shrewd deal to flog off Bristol Avenue for housing and build a new factory somewhere more industrial.

Let's face it, a new factory is much needed.

That may be the case, but when Aston changed it's production methods there were all sorts of complaints from long standing owners that the heritage and soul of the cars was being lost as a result...

Ohidunno - it had a certain....."charm"...like the spare cans of purple paint that got used to tart it up....

Then there's the "museum" area...(i.e. outside!!!)

So how long is the transition period between TVR standard build and the new quality that people are eager to see.

Surely its a process that will take more like 12 months instead of 2.

Or is Nik going to just say to them, "Right fella's, spend more time on getting the quality right" and it'll all be OK?

This is the same letter I have seen that Gi Jnr got for his Sagaris that's on order. The factory will even lend you a late model TVR whilst you wait. How good is that!

I have to say that, after being shocked at the takeover news at first, I'm coming round to the idea of what it could actually mean.

Can you imagine a state of the art factory, churning out quality, good quality cars that look superb, go like stink and have the TVR badge on the bonnet?

Exciting times ahead? I hope and believe!

Positive stuff whatever.

I hope it all results in more sales of less niggly cars and not more expensive ones!

This is great news and hopefully will go some way to show that the new boss means business.

I first got interested in TVR's about 3 years ago watching a bloke on Top Gear getting a Cerbera for his 40th off his wife (wonder if he still has it)

I've visited these pages nearly every day since but could never commit big bucks to a product that had 'quality issues'

I bet I'm not the only one in this boat and am quite excited that this may mean that I can perhaps have one of these fantastic cars before too long.

The costs will have to go up, naturally, I assume.

Alternatively costs of warranty claims goes down, price stays same and profits go up, everyone is happy

The problem is, no company will ever leave prices 'low' if they know people are willing to spend a little more for the right product.

I think the product will demand an extra one or two K per vehicle at point of sale and benefit from lower warranty cost issues.

Its all about timing I suppose. If they get it right and find the correct balance, the company can only go from strength to strength.

Don't all get your hopes about a new factory in Blackpool! According to rumours from the Kremlin, Nicolai seems to have set his sites on a new factory a few miles SW of Moscow. (Can't remember the name)

TVR ïðèõîäèò äîìîé !!!

Like I said elsewhere, this could be the start of a new era for TVR, and possibly the one that we all dream of, with high quality, reliable cars, a responsive factory and dealer network, but still with TVR's unique brand values - ie. stupid amounts of power, outrageous styling etc.

I'm looking forward to my next purchase - it'll be a few years away, probably when a Tamora replacement comes out - with a folding soft top, ABS, 400bhp, chassis/suspension tuned by Lotus, everything else in-house, reliable electrics, and a decent warranty.

Like everything else, let's wait and see what develops.
The mere fact that the new owner is apparently commiting himself to improving quality is a plus. If a new, more modern factory comes along as well, that's even better. Yes, some of the charm of the way things have been done would be lost, but in my almost 30 years of owning and driving TVRs, and seeing their price point climb to the point it is now, I realize when you get in that market segment, people are going to demand quality, or they probably won't buy your product. Let's wish the new owner well and hold out some optimism that things will go in the right direction rather than trying to find the dark in everything.
