I have had, and continue to have, a nightmare all because the wally that rebuilt the chassis didn't slip a dab of copper slip on the suspension bolts.

Simple: 1 of my rear GAZ Golds began leaking and needed refurb, simple task, whip all of them off and send off for refurb. Then refit with new bolts and jobs done.

So so much grief......the bolts won't come out easily, struggled with 3 of the 4 rears but did manage then came to the last one, Near-side, rear top front, absolute pita. The bolt has fused to the sleeve liner of the polybush and refuses to budge.

So just a little bit of advice in case yours has been done without copper slip, give yourself a chance and get the bolts out now while you can and get some copper slip on them.

I really wouldn't wish this fiasco on anyone else.

I am seriously thinking the only solutions are body off or selling it for spares, CRAZY !

Working on aero gas turbines the problem of bolts seizing (and breaking!!) is always there. When it costs £20k to remove a gas turbine after a critical bolt breaks you try everything to get them freed off......
The best stuff found is 'Plus Gas'. A liberal soaking followed by coffee. Then another soaking followed by lunch....... You get the picture.
It's pretty good stuff (but not cheap!!)

I sympathise as I remember having to drill out the rubber section of a bush on a Spitfire many years ago as the thing was rusted solid........
Good luck

Really sorry to hear about your troubles. I have used the loctite freezing spray for freeing up and shrinking rusted bolts, in Military vehicles in the past, maybe give this a go.

Sounds ghey but I used halfords "shock and unlock" after a whole weekend of trying to undo the intermediate shaft bearing housing bolts on my speed 6. To my utter amazement the stuff worked. I was at the point close to chiselling the aluminium housing off so as not to risk the bolts snapping in the block.

If these magic sprays fail, can you get in with a little angle grinder with a cutting disc in or a hacksaw to try and cut the bolt?

The OP outlines his efforts so far in the other post he has supplied the link to.

Thanks folks, I continue with the quest and will solve it some way.

Within this post I was merely trying to give others a 'heads-up' to copper slip yours now, before they seize (if they haven't already)

If you find they have already seized at least you'll know before you need to change or refurb your coilovers.

But have you applied the coffee to it yet?

By far, the best thing to use for this is a home-brew, consisting of a 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF fluid. Stick it in a spray bottle and give it a soaking. Absolutely amazing releasing properties...
