Speed 12 Returns

800+bhp and on the prowl!

TVR Cerbera Speed 12

The TVR Cerbera Speed 12 has lived a life in the shadows of late. Although raced in the British GT series for a couple of years, the road car never made it into production. One road going prototype was shown at various meetings and features in TVR publicity shots but with over 800bhp, former owner of TVR felt that it didn't make a viable road car!

After considerable work, the prototype has been brought back to life. The 8 litre, 48 valve V12 engine is running again and is delivering an estimated 880bhp! That gives tyre shredding performance in any gear, with the dash to 200mph quoted at just 14 seconds. Top speed is still a subject of much debate!

To mark its comeback, the Speed 12 is to make a number of high profile appearances, the first of which is at tonight's Gala launch for Sony's Gran Turismo 4.

TVR Cerbera Speed 12

The car will be on show from Saturday 11th until Monday 14th at Silverstone in Silverstone TVR's showroom. It will also make an appearance later in the year at the Cerbera Festival 'CREAM 2005' at Elvington near York.

Where do I put my deposit?

I think this would be a good way of elevating the TVR brand.

Anyone going down there to take a look over the weekend? well worth the hour drive to go and look at it, and the Sagaris.

Was it TVR who rebuilt it? Don't think so.

I was told by someone at the factory a few weeks back it had a drive along Bristol Avenue side by side with a T440. So not just 'show', it goes, and on the road too

That thing looks brutal - heard it once somewhere - sounds like a hurricane.

I preferred the original 'Speed 12' concept though. Awesome though it might be, the CS12 is still a modified Cerbera, rather than a dedicated model.

What a beast! It'd be nice if the owner could strap some timing gear on it so we can see what 880bhp is really capable of.

Am I the only one who is seeing ropey bodywork with badly cut panels and OTT styling.

If you look past the insane performance it looks like a brutaly fast TVR which is trying to appeal to the Playstation masses (afterall it's been included in so many games of late).
