replacement dash trim

hiya,

id like to replace the faux-faux-faux-wood veneer on the upper instrument binnacle of my dash on my cerb, and the bit that the 'heater'(ha!) knobs sit on. anyone know where i could get some aloo-min-ium ones from (that will match the aloo-min-ium bit at the bottom of the dash. surprised that TVR didn't want them to match actually)(oh no, wait, what am i saying? i spose I'm lucky that i actually HAVE both upper and lower dashes)?

any suggestions will be immediately rewarded with a nudey picture of Judith Chalmers mud wrestling with Des Lynham. tempting, huh?

dont think it will be a big thing (ha! as if im that lucky) ill do mine and let you know. dash is out in under 20 minutes, cant think the heater panel will take more than a few.

Read on another thread that you've been up to your elbows in it again and have changed your dash. Did you find a source or did you fashion one out of old nappies?

ok, that may have been a little over zealous. and ive had a nap now so im fractionally less fractious.

so, i got one from levern, its boo-ty-ful. bout 100 quid, arrived the next day. and wisely, sagely sat on my living room floor for 2 days being admired and left well alone. then, Saturday came. oooh dear. i think the phrase rhymes with 'clucking bell'.

you know how people use the phrase 'over engineered' (but not often about TVR) well, Ive found out what it means. for some reason TVR saw fit to place circuit boards, pretty much everywhere, rather than switches, all of which had the structural integrity of dust (dust? anyone? no? dust?). And all of which pretty much have to be broken when removing.

ooo ooo and the heater panel is a particular delight to get out. not to mention having to remove most of the stuff under the bonnet so that i could get to the water temp probe thingy.

oh and i broke the indicator stalk by touching it.

and the needle fell off the water temp dial and now its fixed it over-reads by exactly 12 degrees.

i actually had to call a friend and get him to help. kinda takes the edge off, you know? took us about 5 hours each on Sunday i reckon. but it does look cool now.

Pics would be good if you can muster up the strength to work a camera, although judging by your experience and you being 'handy with the spanners' and all that, I must say, my wood is beginning to grow on me.

(I'm not sure that reads as I intended it to, but what the hell I think I know what I mean)

Well it works for me apart from a bloody annoying advert thats plastered off the top of my P&J! Can you see it (the photo, not my baited breath)

Nervy, me old pal. To do this, I had to share the album and publish it to my yahoo website, then once I had the album open I simply copied the URL over....

I must say other photo sites are easier to publish
