Having had my car serviced at a highly recomend independent, they discovered a leaking oil pressure switch (a common problem apparantly). To cut a long story short oil pressure switch replaced with uprated version, new uprated version does not work, old one put back, that then one gave up the ghost after 10 minutes (apparantly due to shock of being replaced!). this was some 2-3 weeks ago no sign of oil pressure switch that the indepenent is prepared to fit. No oil pressure = car of road. Anyone had similar problems any ideas? where can I get an oil pressure switch? maintenace company will now only fit "old version" as does not trust new uprated ones as it has to travel to where the car is to fix the issue. TIA Roy.

Oil pressure senders are a rare commodity at the moment. I had 2 fail in less than 3 weeks on a brand new car! Try calling TVR Power and speaking to Andy, I recently got one from him (£22.80 inc postage IIRC) and my dealer fitted it.

I'm glad someone else has the same problem. My leaky but functioning sender was replaced with a non-leaky, but faulty sender - nearly gave me heart failure on Minihoon when my oil pressure dropped to 7psi, and 18psi under full acceleration!!

Gareth at HHC knows about it and told me there was a problem with the new senders - but I'm sick of getting an error code every time I accelerate. And I'm not paying for a new one to replace one that had only been on the car 3 weeks before it failed!!

Mine was reported as leaking at the 6k service. They replaced it, (the old one worked BTW), the new one didn't work, neither did the next 3 they had on the shelf at the dealer, they reported obscure pressures. They ordered another batch and the first one of these worked fine.

Now after 11k I just noticed my latest oil pressure sender is oozing a little oil. I don't plan on replacing it, I think I'll even duck tape it up if I have to - the hassle of the odd drip is less than the high probability a new one won't work properly.

Mines been waiting for a new one for just over a week now. Car being sorely missed

Going to give it 'till the weekend then tell them to stick the leaky one back in!

Well at least I am not alone, good news is they are now comming tommorow with a new one, and a second hand one on the basis one of them should work. Can't complain at the efforts they are putting in and have now offered to give the car a further check over / tweak for my troubles and not charge for the work. However, it is bizare that a £20 switch can keep a car of the road for weeks. Are these stock items or specially built for TVR I wonder? Well at least the engine seems ok!

I asked Andy at Power for one on Tuesday and he hadn't got one - in fact he has 15 on back order.

Sorry everybody, I probably had the last one! He sent me another one last week to replace the first one they sent which only lasted 600 miles. I knew they were scarce but I didn’t realise they were that scarce.

TVR don’t make the actual sender and I was told that they're collecting all the faulty ones back at the factory to send back to the manufacturer.

My new one’s in my glove box waiting to be fitted – maybe I should put it on ebay instead!!!

I had a oil presure sender changed last year because of a leak. The new one didn't leak but did give some rather low readings, especially under hard acceleration. My dealer told me not to worry as the reading was not a true reflection of the actual oil pressure but just a faulty reading from a duff sensor. Sure enough I have not encountered any problems, the sensor is actually now reading nearer what I would expect.

Finally getting mine back tomorrow with its new sensor!

I'll let you know if it reads OK and whether it leaks or not!
