in their TVR. Am seriously thinking about a pair and wondered what previous customers think after living with them for a while?

Thanks

Look for a Cerberra being broken up and get the seats. Re trim them and then you're laughing.

Probably cost less and will offer the support and comfort you require.

Cheers

Think your being a bit harsh, Specialist low volume production is expensive, If companies like this took the piss they wouldn't stay in business.

Ah but then the car wouldn't pull 1G corners with all that extra weight

Nothing, apart from being bloody uncomfortable, lacking in lumbar support, totally lacking in lateral support, having crappy headrests that don't stary where they're put and looking a bit crap.

Next stupid question?

Those Zertec seats look very nice if you want the ultimate seat, and the price is quite reasonable for what they are. But it's worth remembering you don't have to pay anything like that much if you just want smart competition seats with good lateral support. Sparco, Cobra, Recarro and so on all have a good range from about £100 up.

Cheers,
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S, with Cobra seat looking a bit tatty now but smart enough in its day)

Get off my case - what you really need area colour matched set of Corbueu (can never remember how it is spelt), Prorace, or prosports - they are the nuts - I have 3 - not in TVR though.

So none of you have a pair of Clive's seats then?

Please don't tell me 'what I really want'. That is a matter for me alone, wouldn't you agree?

FYI I have been on the lookout for some Cerbera seats for some time. Douglas Valley Breakers offered me a pair for £750 (yes, I too thought they were taking the p1ss), and from the pictures they e-mailed me they looked pretty scabby. Even if I acquire some in good nick, it is highly unlikely that they will be in the right colour, so I will need to get them re-trimmed in leather.

There is also the problem that seats can distort in a heavy impact and lose their strength. Any Cerb seats on the market will have come out of a written off car - I don't want my seat collapsing if I have an accident because it was already seriously weakened from a previous smash.

So Clive's £999 for a brand new pair, covered in the same leather as already in the car is a lot of money, yes, but not the rip off some of you allege.

By the way, new Cerb seats from the factory are >£2,300 IIRC.

I know some people have managed to get Cerb seats for £100 and re-trimmed for 50p. I'm not one of them.

And as for other after market seats, advice is that width is a problem. I guess some of them could be made to fit. I want seats that are comfortable, give good support and don't look out of place in the car. I don't want out and out race seats and I do want them in the same leather I already have.

I also don't want to spend ages messing around trying to get a unique sub-frame to fit them to the TVR.

So I'll repeat the question - has anyone got a pair of the Zertec seats? Other than Clive, obviously. Who has been very helpful and replied to my e-mails very promptly.

One point, not sure if it will bother you or not, is seat weight. I am not sure of the weight of the zertec seats, know .. I was told the Cerbera seats weight a hell of a lot more than the standard griff ones.

This may be something worth barring in mind when making a choice, I was looking at the cerbera seats but the weight and availability put me off.

I too would be interested in knowing if anyone actually has them and are happy as I'm thinking of going for them too for all the same reasoning as griff2be and also found the response from Clive to be quick and very helpful with the extra bumf on the seats. Clive's printed stuff on the seats says they're actually lighter than the originals and that width is the issue with the usual after market offerings.
If no replies, it looks like it's down to you or me Andy as to who jumps first!!!!!!!!

I'd be interested in hearing about them too. They are already on my "list of things to buy for the Chimaera one day". Don't ask me when it'll actually happen though.

I thought that Steve Heath (shpub) was getting a pair for his Griff?

The Griff decided to spend its year's allowance on brakes, cylinder head gaskets, clutches and a new cam and several rolling road sessions. Keep meaning to move on it but people pester me for new Griff/Chimaera books, the 520 needs new strengthened bits made and so on.

is that approx £1000 for the pair, because if so that is a pretty good bargain and makes me rethink the idea of a set myself. (i hope that price includes the same colour leather as the reast of the car)

A grand for a pair of leather sets is comparable to, or less than, offerings from Corbeau, Cobra, Recaro etc etc. On the assumption tha they reclien and slide etc.

Now can anyone suggest a nice cheap option for replacement seats for my MR2? The current ones are sh@gged (after 165,000 miles, who can blame them?) and giving me a sore back. Also they're too high, I can only fit in by leaning over a bit and putting my head into the sunroof space.

Would racing bucket types be thinner in the base, and could I use a conventional 3-point seatbelt with them? I'd be the only one driving so adjustability's not a major issue. I assume they could be adjusted to suit when installed, then changed with a spanner later if not quite right?

Andy,

As you dont seem to be having much joy finding someone apart from Clive who has the Zertec seats on PH, have you tried asking clive if he has sold any and if so any chance of him passing your number on to them to get in contact with you.

I think clive would be more than happy to do that(good for business), and him giving them your number is not inconveincing(sp?) them, up to them wether they want to call you or not.

All the best and let us know if u have any joy elsewhere
