Can't believe it. My stunning Cerbera is no more. Driving home along the A30 last night and smelt smoke. Pulled into layby, got out, car burst into flames. Seemed to start behind the dashboard on the passenger side. All thats left is a bit of rollcage, 2 headlights and the remains of the front wheels.
I'm absolutely devastated..but at least no injury to anyone. Would appreciate advice re dealing with insurance company....anything I should or shouldn't do / put on claim form etc.
Anyone got a similar story with a happy ending, I sure would be glad to hear it right now!!

Awful news - a beautiful car too - hope you are able to replace with an equivalent via the insurance.

Glad no-one was hurt

Really sorry to hear that, my mate (and best man) saw the car on fire and texted Mrs. CwC to check it wasn't me. Hope you and yours are OK, much the most important.

When the insurance coughs I am sure PH will have a few examples on sale to attract your attention. Take it easy.

WOW!
Unlucky mate. Glad you are OK (apart from how gutted you must feel ).

Don't think there'll be too much trouble with the insurance - can't imagine there's enough of the car left to find a reason not to pay out!

Hope you get what you think it was worth and that it's dealt with swiftly.

Will you be getting another?

For the Insurance company, get loads of quotes from Autotrader for similar cars at the price you think is fair (or PH classifieds as they are a little higher than most others).
They will offer you the lowest they can till you can prove your car was worth more. I'm speaking from experience unfortuanately

Was a lovely looking Cerb too

I am really sorry to hear about your loss, just glad no one was hurt.
Don't know which insurance Co. you are with, but mine Allianz Cornhill use Autotrader website for valuation (mine was a total loss in January this year) so as said by others, check Autotrader/PH to make sure you get a fair price for it and can replace like for like.
Chin up :-).....think of it this way, you can now say you have owned two TVR's

Just seen your profile, she was a real beauty to :-(

Go to a dealer, get quotes from them for the true value? Should entitle you to more money.

Gutted for you, don't except the insurance co first offer, we waited 10 months for them to come up with a realistic figure.

Bad deal Pat.

As mentioned, thankfully everybody is OK.

I know how I'd feel if it was my pride and joy.

You'll love your next Tiv just as much.

Wow sorry to hear that, if I was going past at the time of the incident I would probably have to pull over until I stopped weeping..

Good luck -- you'll be back on the road in another beast in no time at all!

You walked away.

Go to the pub, buy two pints, grab yours, clink the other one and toast the Big Man upstairs and say there but for the Grace of God...

Dont take a backwards look at the car after that, its gone, dead. Insurance company problem and get on with life, till the money is back to buy another.

You walked away. A car is just a car.

Grim news, hope the insurance does the right thing and doesn't give you grief.

I've had a Peugeot pick up catch fire and have never forgotten the hassle my insurance company gave me.

Message to all.

Get a fire extinguisher, they're not expensive.

I got one as soon as a got my Chim and had it fitted in front of the driver's seat.

As we drive 'plastic' cars with a petrol tank in the boot this would seem to be a wise move for all.

Don't forget that you also get play Fireman Sam if you see another car going up in smoke.

It's wise to leave burning petrol tankers to the proffessionals though....................
