Hi folks,

I have been informed that there is a list of the correct torque settings for a Chimaera/Griff on here somewhere....but I can't find them!

Can anyone point me in the right direction please.

Oh yes might be best to outline the settings I need, I am rebuilding the chassis, so need
settings for the following:

Top diff mounting
lower diff mountings
Driveshaft/CV bolt settings
Top/bottom ball joints
Wishbone bushes

Plus an others that I may need and haven't thought of!

Thanks,

Steve. G.

I have the settings from the instructions that TVR gave out with the spiders kit.

Send me a mail and I will mail it back to you, dont think the diff bits are on there though.

Erm question:

After I did a search on here for the torque settings for the front hub nuts 73-77lbft appeared to be the figure that was quoted, however after you chaps kindly posted the info above the front and rear hub nuts appear to be tightened to the same tolerance i.e.229-258lbsft.

At the risk of appearing thicker than I am..... which is correct, cos to be honest my front jobbies are circa 74lbft just now!

Are you getting mixed up between the axle nuts that hold the wheel bearings in place and wheel nuts that hold the wheel onto the hub? Having said that 2**lb/ft seems a hell of a lot for a front hub (which presumably has a taper bearing).

Iain

The figure of 2** lbft is correct, both the front and rear hubs require high torque settings, the easiest way to do the rears is with them on the car and something to stop the hub turing, (possibly the wheel if the socket will go through the centre).

The front will have to be done in a vice.

Dont forget to install the correctly handed threads to the correct side.

Not too bad actually, the required torque wrench usually makes it easier, the bible mentions scaffold poles, maybe weetabix werent available...........

Yeah it was the torque wrench that was the problem for me. Couldn't fit it in my suitcase to bring it back home with me for the weekend

Borrowed one in the end though

All,

Lokks like I need to get Wixers torque wrench dialed up then, of cos the only issue here is that I have put the front hubs on now, top and bottom balljoints etc fixed to corect settings , problem may be getting enough lb age on with them in situ....sort of thing you make the mistake on once only me thinks!

Thanks again.

Steve.
