Best has got to be when I stopped in a layby near Bracknell to put my roof down, when a guy in a grey Pagani Zonda (!!!) pulls in behind me, leaps out, and says "what a gorgeous car! I used to have one just like it!", and proceeds to look all around my Chim.
I told him his was pretty nice too...

I remember a journey to Scotland once. Was driving fairly briskly up the A1 near Scots Corner, close to midnight, suddenly realised I was approaching a traffic car way too fast so turned off into a Shell station. Not much drammer, but the brakes were rather warm once stopped. Got out and started to fill up as needed it anyway. While filling, a Porsche 959 pulled up. He gets out, looks, I nod, he nods. Meanwhile a car with 4 northern lads, 3 p1ssed up, pulls into the station. All get out, driver fills up while his mates wonder over to the 959. One comments "I love these body kitted 911's", other says he thinks they are a waste of time, third guy spots the griff. All 3 come over and start asking question. Usual stuff, how fast etc. I leave them looking at it while going in to pay. Pass the now disgruntled 959 owner on the way out, smile sweetly and say "Well, I like your car!". By the time I come out from paying, the lads have got a camcorder out and start filming the griff while a now very p1ssed off 959 owner starts his engine, revs it....and still the camcorder is trained on the griff! The 959 burns off, still no recognition from the lads. I start mine (still filming), the lads shout for me to give it some on the way out, I obviously do. I think they were happy with the filmed result! Then to rub salt in the 959 wounds, 2 miles down the road I pass him like he was standing still.....never to be seen again!
The whole thing did put a lovely smile on my face!

I was filling up with petrol a few months ago in Northallerton when a brand new 911 pulls at the pump opposite. While the proud owner was filling up, his (extremely tasty) girlfriend spent the whole time looking at the Tiv and even turned around in her seat so she could watch us rumble off.

I remember a couple of years ago me and a mate took the Griff down to Spain for a week, on the way back we stopped at the services and there was a German camper there, a guy and his son got out and came over, I thought we would get the usual crap about porkers but no, he said 'Argh a TVR, vhat model iz it' we had a good chat and they were both singing TVR's praises for there radical styling and huge engine
Another Porsche V TVR story!
Pulled up in a pub car park one lovely sunny day for some lunch. Two Porsches (a 911 and a 928) were parked 2 spaces along from me. We went and ordered some food and then came back out to sit in the beer garden. Only to find most of the people that were in the beer garden looking around my car, not interested in either of the Porsche's.
The only two people that were left in the beer garden were the porsche owners. I could not help but smile!

Similar story - A 911 driver came over to admire my Chim while I checked my tyre pressures at the BP garage in Inverness. Said he had driven a Chim before he bought the 911, and the only reason he settled for the 911, was because of the Porsche 12000 mile service schedule instead of TVR's 6000miles.
Possible thread topic? Is the 6000 mile servicing really necessary? Or is it a money making ploy??

Good point...put it out there for discussion...
It is 6K or yearly for TVR's .. as the annual milage seems to be 5K it is OK for most but off putting if you intend to purchase the car for everyday use.

Al Up North, I know Inverness cery well. My parents live on the west coast. Whenever I'm up there, I never see another TVR! The A9 has to be one of the best roads in the country at 5am, only beaten by the road to Achnasheen (spelt wrong)!
There are a few TVRs about. Not many though! I know of only two Chims, apart from mine, in Inverness. Couldn't agree more about the roads. I've done the two you mentioned many many times. Many, I know like the back of my hand, but since getting my Chim, I've began to appreciate them in a completely new light!
... If you get my drift! Recommended. The 12 miles between Inverness and Beauly, the south side road along the Beauly Firth. Good surface and loads of fast bends. Cambers are perfect. If you know it well...its one of the best TVR stretches I've ever encountered, even if it's busy! Overtaking (safely of course) opportunities a gogo!!!

ck ?"..... to the absolute dead stops blokes and birds come to when I drive past..... to the irresistable way it pulls up to, or away from, EVERYTHING I've met on any road ! Heaven is a Cerbera !

It never put me off....I have done over 20K miles this past year - this past week alone has seen just over 1K miles to add on.
IMO they are there to be driven, and drive I shall

Went out for a wee run one day last summer, mainly to test something I had just fixed (can't remember what, brake pads or something) and ended up turning for home through the next village in front of one of those BMW Z8 (is it? I don't know BMW models - the big convertible anyway)
Going through the village, three young lads spot the S and do the "Phwoarrr" thing and point and shout "nice car mister" etc as I trundle past... Mr cool in his BMW with his cool shades never even got a glance...
10 times the price and the expression was priceless...
