Regular question, so here's my experience at renewal time.

I'm posting this with a view to the relative quotes being useful, but for what it's worth it's a garaged £15k worth of Griff 500, SDP and getting to work, 16,000 miles per annum, standard alarm/immobiliser, plus Tracker, £500 excess and no protected bonus (saved about £50 on that bit).

(Similar line covered on the Chimaera thread only recently, but I thought you might like some more www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=26285&f=8&h=0&hw=insurance)

This will be my third year with Direct Line - and that surprised a couple of brokers as they are unbeaten at £462 this year.

Coming up close on their heels:

Sunninghill able to quote £503 (and sound like best for service
Peart best was £560 and they were also among the best sounding service
I have 11 (yes eleven!) other quotes which range from £713 to £1198. Norwich Union were the most expensive and several companies i rang asked if I had had a quote from them because they expected them to be very competitive.

A couple of non-starters were Classicline, purely because of a maximum 5,000 miles (what do I do after March!!!), E-sure and Swinton - the latter two, both on line, were just useless.

Oh and I don't think it's funny when some of the companies (not those mentioned above) send you e-mails afterwards which start off "got over the shock of our quote - then ring us and see if we can do better" - what's the point of filling in their on-line forms???

Anyway, happy insurance hunting out there!!
