Hopefully kicking off a positive TVR reliability/experiences thread, I have just returned from a 10 day, 2k sojourn through England, up into the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland, and back without a hint of a problem with the Tuscan. I bought the car to drive it - and despite a rocky 6mths to start with - the car was perfect throughout the trip. This included heavy m-way mileage in 30+c temps, numerous island ferry crossings and hundreds of miles of single track roads in the far western highlands of Scotland (including the amazing pass to Applecross).

PH and several of its regulars were an amazing resource in planning the trip - many good recommendations as to where to go/drive, which really made the experience unforgettable and ensured I put the car through its paces on roads blissfully free in most circumstances of traffic. The scenery and views were superb, people friendly throughout, and the Tuscan continually attracted people over to have chats and photo opps. The only downside - carrying so much luggage that my ground clearance was app 6cm at the exhausts, which is not so good on small country roads!

I'm going up to the Applecross are after the Griff Growl as that is where my parents now live. Did you enjoy the A9 and the road from Inverness to Lochcarron? It is a wonderful place. Well done.

Had similar experiences in my Tuscan on a 10 day Scottish trip with 3 days' shooting, 5 days' gastronomic tour and 2 days' golf, with girlfriend, a few years ago. Superb!

Thanks Gents - have posted some notable roads on the Scotland thread by way of interest -

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=117301&f=118&h=0&p=2

- but will be better at advance planning some hoons next time so as to engineer a meet up! I was reasonably close to Aberdeen (A93 at Ballater), and had an absolute blast on the roads through the Cairngorms. Biggest regret was having to leave Pitlochry/Scotland on Monday morning and then subject to 550 miles of motorway driving. Richard - saw the T440R at Le Mans and can only imagine how good that would be on the Scottish roads.

I shall be off for another weeks blip of Scotland's fine roads mid August!

Last year I took my Elan and went to the Callander Classics weekend. I'll be going there again this year (19-20 August) but with the Chimaera.

Can't wait!

Yer I took my tusc (and the Mrs) up Scotland for a week in May, only trouble was It pi$$ed it down all week, Still managed to notch up 1500 hassle free miles, and enjoyed every second of it apart from all the moans of "slow down" and "your going to kill us" coming from the co-pilots seat.

Glad to hear you had a good trip Craig. Was never quite sure if you got my email before you went?
We're off up there tomorrow in the Monaro for 2 weeks, probably covering many of the same routes. Hope the weather doesn't deteriorate too much!!

Starting August 16th there will be a lot of TVR's touring Scotland (trouble free). Watch out for 27 LHD TVR's from Holland!

Neil - YHM. Give me a bell if needed and I can run you through the routes/places to see which conincide a lot with where I have just returned from. Happy to help.

Head North West my friend. Aim for Skye, via Loch Lomond, Glencoe, Fort William, Drumnadrochit , Eilean Donan Castle and so forth.

You'll love it.
