North Wales Xmas TVR Tour 30th December 2006
Discussion
Following on from the success of our last TVR adventure into North Wales on 28th October, it’s time for the final run of the year into North Wales or as the tourist board call it ‘The Big Country’. We need something to cheer us up after all the recent woes of TVR Ownership

So here it is the North Wales TVR Xmas Tour 30th December 2006. It’s the last Saturday of the year and we’ll all be ready for hoon after a week of mince pies and Stella.
The trip takes a fair bit of planning and time so I going to ask for a £10 donation per car to the charity Wispa - World Society for the Protection of Animals (particularly bears - you got to love em) https://www.wspadonations.org/wspauk.aspx. I’ll collect the money on the day – get those tenners ready!
The route is 189 miles and is more compact than last time. We’ll start out at 9.30 and stop for lunch in
Betws y Coed for lunch at 12.30. There’s 2 hours of driving in the afternoon. We can take in a stop at Bala lake for photo’s before heading to the Lion Quays Hotel outside Owestry (OK, Chirk if your local), where we can finish up at about 4.30 pm.
We can take a few beers at Lion Quays and maybe a meal. For those who wish to Saturday night , I've selected Lion Quays. www.lionquays.co.uk
The rooms cost £95 for a Double and £75 for a single.
The route will avoid the main routes and take in more challenging scenic roads. We’ll take in our favourite roads from the last trip in the morning before stopping near Swallow falls in Betws y Coed.
We’ll aim to set off before 2pm and take in the scenary around the Slate Mines and head back over the moors to Bala (stop at lake) and then back to the Lion Quays.
We’ll start out a few miles closer at Owestry Roundabout on the XXX. This is 10 miles from Shrewsbury.

The location is better for all as it features a travel Lodge like the last meeting point and is close to Lion Quays Hotel if you fancy something a little better.
I believe we had 32 cars last time so maybe we should all purchase some cheap walkie talkie this time like the Binatone MR150. See ebay http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/searc
I am going to get a copy of Autoroute so we can have better directions. I’ll hand them out on the day.
Anyway post if you wish to join.

Where did they pull you? It looks a bit remote to just stumble across you! Is that Lake Vyrnwy?
The checky buggers did a drive through the car park where we met up last time.
We're going off track this time, but not TomTom off road like Chris and Dom
So are you going to join us on the 30th?
Really looking forward to the 1st reunion. How many are going?

Have been reading threads related to Swiss trip with interest! Cannot make the Driving Adventures reunion in December, unfortunately it clashes with a weekender already booked and paid for. Subject to being sober and car being roadworthy may blow the cobwebs away on Xmas tour. Hope all are well.

We didn't get pulled - I never drive over the speed limit John, you know that!!!!!
The police spotted us in Betws-Y-Coed on a recce then followed us. We pulled over to take some photos and they pulled in behind us. They never got out of their car but clearly wanted to let us know they were around - so I took a photo of them.
If anything, it proves our point that livery on cars attracts the wrong attention and our previously Monaro was heavily liveried as you know from the Lakes and Scotland tour.
I WILL be at your Xmas meet on 30th December - we've already lined up the baby sitter as my wife is working that day.
We've got 13 people from the TVR Power Swiss trip booked on the Xmas do at the moment and I think there will be quite a few more.
