The TVR badge ownership has for some time now been under contraversy, with most people assuming N.S owned it and therefore was not part of the Blackpool automotive group, and not up for sale by the receivers. It would seem that the ownership was not that cut and dried, with foul play being cried by former employees of the company it soon became apparent a DTI investigation into the running of the company would almost certainly take place with Mrs Joan Humble MP and Mr Gordon Marsden MP both giving their support in writing to Alistair Darling the minister for Trade and Industry asking him to look at the running of the company and to instigate a DTI investigation. This situation is currently ongoing.

Some two weeks ago I asked the receivers office at what stage would they consider auctioning the contents of the factory only to be told it was to be sold as a going concern but at this stage all the company assets had not been realised.

I am now being told that redundancy payments are to be issued by the 9th February. I very strongly recommend that all staff concerned in this proceedure check very carefully their payments as these payments are based on time served with the company. I am at this moment aware of one employee who does not agree with his stated length of service - SO CHECK IT YOURSELF.

But check this out I have to-day been told that Blackpool automotive is to be sold as a going concern and this is to be announced in Fridays' financial times, but the rose in the crown, is according to my source - the badge will be included in this sale. I hope this proves to be the case and eagerly await Fridays "Times".

regards Gerbil

mmmmm . . funny you mentioned this. I was speaking to a business contact earlier this week who introduced me to a very good friend of his - he manages a huge private property investment portfolio for a very very wealthy individual (not NS!). He commented on my TVR cufflinks paperbag and mentioned very casually that his boss had been approached to buy the company!! We're talking a very wealthy businessman here too - so not just pub talk . . . we'll see

A glimmer of light at last

I truely hope all workers get a quick and accurate payout and that indeed the badge, the name and anything else that bares any resemblance to TVR is sold to perspective owner and nothing left in the hands of Oxley Tower and Nick-u-lie Smallendski

Fingers crossed once again....well, I never really uncrossed them hehe

Gerbil:- As you seem to be the person with the most positive information to date,I have to ask you, If NS doesn't wholly own the TVR badge, does he still own the rights to build TVR's in that name. Also if he is going to sell off the companies assets,If a backer with the right amount of cash behind him/her came in,would it be possible to start building cars again at Bristol Ave under the TVR name, bearing in mind that from what I've read PW still owns the factory/land. I really do hope that NS doesn't get to keep the TVR company name and that the ex workers finally manage to get back to what they enjoyed doing. Building OTT supercars.

Hopeing that this does happen

What cars should the 'new' owner produce...

Very short term needed to get cash flow going, happy to wait a year or too for anything really new...

In my opinion reintroduce the t350 coupe and as a convertible:
( ie in reality a tamora with t350 nose, minor rear styiling tweeks)

with a stock engine - bought in - reduce unit cost, etc (300 'real' bhp would do - it is light after all)

Sell it for 35k base plus optons?
As the entry level car

Keep Tuscan 2, coupe/convert as is, keep S6 engine (nail the pr with respect to reliability, sort engineering and communicate it to customers)
drop S distinction, keep it as a one model - 360-380 real bhp and at the higher previous s spec.
£45k plus options

Keep sagaris as is:

LOTS of decent TARGETED marketing PR, need not be expensive, web, ph, tvr cc, EVO, et al would i'm sure like to see TVR with credible ownership succeed.

LONG TERM

depends on the success of the above

Go into more exotic materials, etc, GET the cars lighter, then you do not need to get in to the power wars, vs porsche, et al. Lighter means less work/wear on chassis, brakes, suspension , etc.

Agree with the past couple of posts... modern day Griffith, with modified Sagaris chassis and US V8, make it the best handling TVR, and market it properly. And keep it cheap, around £35k.

This could get the company back on it's feet and then when it's stable, bring out a new Cerbera.

All IMO of course.

Fingers crossed for the staff and for TVR.

just 280-300 relaible bhp with useful torque..

A griff standard 500 has real world less than this.
