Well, picked her up Saturday lunchtime from Fernhurst TVR complete with a full valet, oil service and tank of petrol, and found a nice little present in the boot of a leven hood cover. Thought I would give a little update!

My god! what a thrill. After picking up P994 LLN at 12 midday, I spent the next 9 hours driving around grinning like the cat from Cheshire
The power is like nothing else I have ever driven. OK it is only a 4l, but for me, at the moment, this is more than enough. Hit the loud pedal and the smiles keep coming.

Sunday afternoon up a long stretch of the A30 (empty) I built up the courage and booted it. Everything was at warp speed, the power just kept coming and coming and coming.

Pure and simply, I love this car. Took me 17 years to get it and I am enjoying it. It's great, the power the noise the looks, what more can I say? Last night, as it was raining and I am not yet confident in the dry! I spent 45 minutes going over the inside looking for leaks.

Plus points:
People look, people stare! I have had people point, people asking me to rev it at lights, or just want to look at it. What a car!
It's mine
The noise

Minus points:
Seem to attract a hell of a lot more tailgaters, or maybe it's just me?
People overtaking dangerously, just because, a guy in a Porsche very nearly stacked it into the traffic in front of me whilst over taking (not having a go at Porsche drivers per se, just this one)

Smiling like never before....
Mike

Welcome to the fold...

tailgaiters- yes indeed. I guess they just want a closer look/listen. Bit worrying when they nearly fail to stop tho... many a tiv gets rear ended by mumblies (so to speak).

I'm 14 months into ownership and it gives me a rush every time.

I still pop into the garage just for a peak too.

Happy Tivving. You wont regret a minute!

MikeGF,

I am afraid tailgaters are all part of the territory with TVR ownership. I owned a Chim & now have a Tuscan and with both it attracted idiots who think they can have a play with you. I used to fall for it but not any more if someone wants to sit on my arse I just pull over as don't need to prove anything.

Good luck with your new Chim.

Alan.

My thoughts exactly, I have nothing to prove. I have wanted a TVR since I first saw and heard an old neighbours SEAC, at 31 I have got my dream car, I am not going to stack it in a moment of lunacy.

Sound choice,
I was in the same position as you six months ago, almost sleeping on Fernies doorstep.

Six months now and still Grinning ...and Grinning..... & Grinning.
Nice bunch of guy's up at Fernies, Drew is a character, always have a chat with him and a nose around the showroom when he's there.

I'll be up there late afternoon this Friday.

A very Big Welcome.

Safe driving and keep it shiny side up.

Drew is indeed a character, took the time to show me the car, and he took my gf and I downstaird to the underground storage for a poke around!

THey all really took the time and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a TVR.

Mike - great to hear you're enjoying your new car. We love our Chimaera...just fantastic. You will get the odd negative comment or piece of driving near you - just don't rise to it. It certainly doesn't stop you enjoying the car.

If you think the tailgating is bad with the Chim you should see what Porsche drivers put up with..really, genuinely its worse (I have both so I know).

Mike - good to hear you`re enjoying it and agree with all you`ve said. We have had ours 3 months and the buzz has not wained at all!! If you don`t mind me asking, (if you`ve been waiting 17 years)how old are you? Our waiting time was equivalent because of doing all the other things like marriage, kids and mortgage etc!! I`m 45 and the wifes xx!!

Hey, well done.
I've had my Chimaera 450 since August 2002, driven it nearly everyday, work, shops etc - I can't say the novelty hasn't worn off slightly but I still get a real kick out of it, especially when the sun shines and you can get the roof off or an open road off a roundabout to welly it some!

Thats the way to do it Mike, don`t put things off you want to do (if able) as you may never do them otherwise!!

Congrats..

Have you agreed the option of a trade in for a Cerbie at Fernhurst yet? Sensible family car, you know

Re tailgaters: particularly worrying when they want a "listen" of your engine at the lights, and you're facing uphill..or maybe your handbrake works better than ours..

Ask anyone who knows me - geography not exactly a strong point. Mrs. T is the navigator extrordinaire.

I remember my first TVR, I'd only had it a couple of weeks when I pulled a lovely young lady and took her back to mine. Only downside was that she smoked, but she politely asked if she could smoke in the house. Naturally I said "no" but she'd be welcome to join me in the garage where I'd be looking at my new car Which she did and was impressed enough to make me promise to take her home in the morning in the S3c.

I've only done it once since and that was when I'd just bought my Chimaera and this young lady was rumoured to have had 30 piercings! Didn't get anywhere with that one though.

Classy birds?!?
