Software won't run on my windows XP laptop i get the message

c:WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for MS-DOS
and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Any advice ?

No probs

Does it work with your com ports? The rumour was it didn't on XP but I haven't tried it as my diag laptop is win2000, soon to be replaced with an XP machine so I'd like to know smile

The XP one will also be USB com ports not real ones like my old one so I'm not holding my breath

I've got the TVR software for the cerbera - both versions.
It works fine under XP although does try to log you off when it exits. Have a text file open with a couple of characters in and the laptop won't turn off as it will try to prompt you about saving the file.

USB to serial ports work fine - I've not found one that doesn't yet. However the trick is to make it Com port 1 and then it's fine. This may mean juggling others around (such as the IR port or touchpad) but you can do this within Device manager, ports, pick the port, select properties. You change the port number in the port settings, advanced button. Obviously you have to move whatevers on com1 before allocating your USB to it.

The ecu takes serial so you will need a usb to serial adaptor. I've not found one that doesn't work yet and I've tried some really cheap rubbish...

Software has a few foybles which make life a little difficult for a USB connector.

Some will work some won't.

What seems to annoy it the most is the diagnostic software switching communication speed via the com port half way through the diagnostics.

No matter what speed you have the port set up as the software will try to increase the com speed on the fly while examining the adaptive maps, and then switch back after.

This is why a lot of people will complain of problems with disconnecting after reading the adaptive maps.
