Rang up Tower View today to give me a quote for a new set of S03s and they told me they could only offer Toyos as TVR had recalled all S03s. Some mistake surely!

Surely Bridgestone would be responsible for recalls on their tyres

I doubt this is a "product recall" ... probably TVR have got a deal with Toyo where they have agreed to only use Toyos, maybe to the extent that they have recalled some stock they'd purchased from Bridgestone

Nothing on the Bridgstone site, so it sounds like a TVR issue.

Don't scare me with threads like this, the wife will go spare if I have to buy a new set so soon after just having paid out for the ones I have on.

Mind you I've read stories of SO2's seperating on larger heavier cars in Australia.

Don't forget all of those Ford Explorer Blowouts were Bridgestones aswell.

Bridgestone and Firestone are part of the same company and 1 model of Firestone were known amongst some Ford workers as ditchfinders because Sierras in/around 1990 kept ending up going off the road because of the tyres.

If they are recalled I'm going for Goodyear F1's.

'Don't forget all of those Ford Explorer Blowouts were Bridgestones as well.'

Hence 'Ford Exploder'

I fancy Goodyears as well; I'm tired of ricocheting off catseyes.

Been through 4 or 5 pairs of SO3's and no problems, apart from going through 4 or 5 sets.......

Just spoken to Tower View....

It looks like it is a case of a wrong word becoming embellished, leading to a rumour etc etc.

1. Their tyre supplier stated that he cannot get S03's at all at the moment. This does happen as they are shipped by container from Japan. Some containers even fall off the back of a ship and this can cause delays and shortages.

2. TVR have just released Toyos with TVR stamped on them and with a special compound. Toyo have released the ZR versions of the 15 inchers for Griffi and Chimpari. As a result, S03s have been officially withdrawn by TVR as their tyre of choice.

Somehow said tyre supplier as seen these, added the word recall and started the rumour. Everything has then gone from there as I understand it.

Personally I think all the S03s have gone to allow Bridgestone to provide Schumi M with a set of S03s for his work rep mobile.

In which case the Geezer I know down the pub will be able to lay his hands on a set or two, no problem

That was because Ford ran them all at 10 psi too low though wasn't it ?

Saw some of the new Toyo 15" on a Griff at Tower View the other week. I did not like the look of them on the car. Was not impressed that do not have the "anti-curbing" ridge either.

They might be good tyres but I think I'll stick to the S03's even if it's just to help protect my wheels ('cos I can't replace them). Before you start no I haven't curbed my TVR at all BUT it's nice to know that he tyre will protect the wheel in most cases.
