I've just got a quote from Liverpool Victoria, and it's comparable with most other quotes, and a lot cheaper than some. What makes it so good?

Unlimited mileage
Protected NCB
Track day cover included
Speeding fines irrelevant (as long as no ban from them)!!!
Not really too bothered about claims made
No Tracker etc needed
Only 5% extra to pay by instalments (not my usual practice, but for £35, why not?)
Guaranteed hire car for duration of any repairs
Not bothered about modifications which don't enhance power

Nice friendly service, too (Thanks Natasha!)

Definitely worth a go, IMHO.

Getting a new Tamora then?

Have to give them a call given the impending dual-TVR-ness about to descend on the judas household

Excellent news about the Tamora, Duncan!

Couldn't get the Liverpool Victoria website to give me a quote though - just get locking up or timing out

Yes, I couldn't get my stored quote to come up again, but I think the website stops quoting at 10.30pm - maybe it was having a bun and a fag before knocking off?

For all the slagging they've had recently I thought I should put in a good word for Sunninghill.

When I bought the Tuscan in January I took out a restricted mileage policy for 6000 miles. I have almost done that already so I called yesterday with some trepidation to increase it. Aaron upped me to 10k for the princeley sum of £15.

Agreed about Sunninghill (but then again I haven't had a renewal for the Tuscan yet ). It cost me an extra sixty quid to change the policy to unlimited mileage, plus they quoted me just over four hundred for unlimited mileage on a 4ltr Chim Liverpool Victoria on the other hand want six-fifty

Some things just don't add up! First insurance was through Sunninghill, 27years old, never driven a TVR, given a price of just under a grand. One year on, one years driving experience, one year older and the price went up by over £200. Phoned around and got it for £800 with Classic. What makes it worse is that Sunninghills and Classicline are all under the Royal & Sunalliance heading.

Royal Sun Alliance are an Insurance Company. Sunninghill are an Insurance broker, selling Insurance company policies. Sunninghill's level of cover and TVR specific package includes Full RAC Recovery, Track Day cover and a host of extras. Some of these add to the basic policy cost. I doubt Classicline offer the same cover.....hence the price differential.

I worked for Liverpool victoria until feb this year (although not in the insurance side) and even with staff discount were horendously expensive. This was entirely due to my age. If you are over 30 and have had little or no incidents then they tend to like you.

found Tesco, Elephant.co.uk were the only reasonable options at 24.

We have been through this many times. Insurance is a completely bo!!oxks system. Two people with similar records, ages etc can phone the same broker and get very different prices. You can phone round many different brokers and get a different price from all of them for the same cover with the same Insurance company.

The only answer is to never do an automatic renewal and always spend a couple of hours phoning round different brokers.
