Not sure about TVR
Discussion
IM THINKING OF BUYING A TUSCAN, BUT IM PUT OFF BY THE CONSTANT BAD REPORTS OF UNRELIABILITY. CAN SOMEBODY HELP BY TELLING ME THE POSSIBLE PROBLEMS IM GOING TO COME UP AGAINST, AND POSSIBLE COST TO SORT. IM A WINDOW CLEANER WITH LIMITED CASH TO SPEND ON SORTING UNRELIABILTY PROBLEMS OUT.
Question for Corin I guess ...... You mention a decent warranty for £400 - just wondering who you use and how it works ? i.e. Is this one you can extend each year ?
Any info appreciated - My car is currently under an AA warranty which has been excellent - however, this runs out in March 2004 and I'd like to retain some kind of cover.

I don't have a Tuscan myself but try to keep informed. As I understand it most of the problems lie with the Speed Six engine, principally sub-spec followers. It seems that most of the early S6 engines eventually have to go back to the factory to be fixed, but that after that it's OK.
So my opinion, for what its worth, is either to stay away from early Tuscans or make sure they've had the problem fixed. And though I'm not normally in favour of warranties, in this instance it might be good for peace of mind, espcecially as it would be your first TVR.

I don't use one personally but I know Peninsula can sort you out or at least advise you.
What I have done though is boosted my AA cover, for an extra £40 per year if you have a problem with your car they cannot rectify on the spot they will pay up to £500 per repair and being a TVR you can insist on choice of garage>

Mate, do yourself a favour and turn off the CAPS-LOCK key when posting. Posting everything in capitals is the on-line equivalent of shouting. People will be alot more friendly to someone that doesn't should the whole time...
BTW, get the TVR. I've had a Chimaera for 4 months, best car I've run. There's nothing else like it.

1) Wasn't this thread closed?
2) SS10/Saint - why two names so soon?
3) My advice is to avoid any new TVR model for 2 years after launch, to allow the first punters to find the problems.
4) I don't have a problem with a window cleaner in a TVR - last month I got robbed for £100 to have a tree pruned. 'Half a day' he said. So I said OK and the bugger was through in 1 1/4 hours. Four of those a day and that's £100K pa.
