You may remember reading an article in the Febuaury TVRCC Sprint magazine, about a TVR club member, Mark Bennison, whos two-and-half year old 'God-son', had recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour.

This brain tumour is operable if carried out soon, but only by specialists in New York and at a cost of £70,000....without the operation the little lad is unlikely to reach the age of 10!

The Mid-Essex TVRCC are holding various fund raising activities, to raise some money, to help 'little George' have this life saving operation, and one of these events is a "Charity Go Karting evening" ... please help us by supporting this event.

The following details have been passed to me by Satman (Paddy)...

Mid-Essex TVRCC Charity Go-Karting Evening

Venue: Rayleigh Indoor Karting Stadium, Rayleigh, Essex.
Date: Saturday 24th April 2004
Time: Arrive at 6pm for a 6.30pm start

The evenings Karting will be a 3-hour Team Endurance race, and there will be 10 teams. Each team will consist of 5 drivers and to ensure no ‘bandit’ teams are put together, all participants names will be put into a hat and teams will then be drawn from the hat.

(Minimum age for the racing is 17 years old).

We want to encourage the ‘ladies’ to take part…come on girls, you know you want to…. and the ladies will be ‘evenly distributed’ between the teams.

There will be a full race briefing and practice laps, plus trophies for the ‘Top teams’.

Each driver will be provided with racing overalls, cotton balaclava, scuff proof gloves and a full-face helmet with visor, and is recommended that you wear trainers or comfortable boots…ladies…no stilettos!
There is a Coffee shop for drinks, snacks, burgers etc, and the after the racing finishes the ‘Pit-stop Bar’ will open.

The cost is £50 per person. A deposit of £25 per person will need to be paid by the 10th April 2004, and the balance by the evenings racing.

Deposits are not refundable unless you can replace yourself with another driver in the event of you not participating, and if the balance is not paid before you sit in a Kart, you do not race!

To reserve your place you can either post here stating you wish to attend along with any other names of people that would like to participate, or you can Email either Podie via his profile or Paddy via his Email, which is paddysat@btconnect.com

Come karting, and help Little George...

Stu,
Im thinking that if we only have 6 or so ladies taking part that I may put them all into one team...my other half said that this way she might not feel so intimidated as part of an 'all woman team'....

Just out of interest what is the exact brain surgery that the child can't get in this country??

Its very rare that america does something sensible that isn't available here. Maybe I could help by doing some research into it?

Peter my servicing guru is also likely to be attending with Mrs Peter (participating), awaiting confirmation, so it will give you a chance to say hello.
