hi guys,

need your help, had the worst case of road rage ever this morning.

luckily not in the tvr but in blue ford focus. were you on the A40 coming from Gerrards Cross towards Denham/london this morning approx 8.25am??

had a guy cut me up not far from my house, usual exchange of lights etc. kept well back from him. he had a citroen estate KY03 FWT, light blue. he turned off and i thought no more of it. just coming off the A413 dual carriageway, onto the A40 towards Denham, and he appears in my rear view mirror. proceeds to overtake me on the inside (two lanes go into 1) then pull in front of me, then stops dead in them middle of 3 lanes of traffic. various cars and lorries had to pull round me to avoid hitting me. everytime i tried to pull around him, he swerved violently in front of me!!.

eventually got down the hill ready to turn left towards denham with said scroat in front of me, but he stopped, blocking me in and stopping me from moving away from him. was very threatening and was trying to get me out of the car, saying he was going to call the police. at this point i phoned 999 and he moved out of my way.

if you did see anything - it was pretty blatant what he was doing - could you let me know.

never been so scared in my life, not sure if he would have been so brave if i was a man, any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Julie,

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, i've had a few problems round that way recently, i hope you called the police and reported it anyway.
Unfortunately the brat had me running late this morning otherwise i'd have been going through that way at about that time.

Is yours the Grigio/silvery colour that i see trundling through Denham occasionally ??

That's horrible Julie

Same has happened to both my wife and me in the past, and it feels alot worse than people imagine.

The BIB may not be able to do much apart from 'have a word' but it's logged in case he's local and it happens again. You do need to put it behind you - I stewed on mine for ages (probably male pride) and it made me feel sick.

Of course, I wouldn't suggest getting hold of some mace to spray in the fr's face should similar happen again, coz that would be illegal!

Just glad you're OK

De-icer works fine

Why is it five minutes later here than on SP&L. Is it 'cause TVRs run fast ?

It's getting worse........
Reaching the stage where I'm sick of driving on the public highway.

these not as bad as yours Ms Totty but

last saturday up the A1, me in iside lane at 70mph, Vectra pulls out straight in front of me from lay by.
I slow down & flash lights, he gives me the 2 fingers!
last monday, guy in Mundano overtakes a few cars on a single carriageway heading straight for me head on. Slow down give him lights in case maybe he just hasn't seen me-get the finger!
Maybe if I get that old Landy with the big bumpers and just let them hit me in future....

I'd give you the finger too. I hate it when I am overtaking and the car I'm overtaking towards flashes me. Does he think I can't see him? Does he know the capabilities of my car better than I do?

Oh, another Mr Angry! Something in the water this week? You lot not getting any? What do you need to give anyone the finger for anyway?

Interestingly, I flashed a biker overtaking towards me last night, and he didn't give me the finger, he waved to thank me. 'Course, I was flashing to let him know I was going to move left and ease off a bit to give him room to take the whole queue in one, instead of two shots.

Glad you are unhurt TVR totty.

Sometimes we all cut it abit fine when overtaking, oncoming cars have only flashed me when I have cut it too close.

I think its not so much the other driver not realising how fast your car is, rather they see a car hurtling towards them on their side of the road and flash their lights i. to warn you of their presence and ii. to vent their distaste at your actions........as sometimes the overtaking car does'nt get back to their side of the road in time, usually killing themselves and the occupants of the other car/s.

No, but probably realises the closing(impact)speed better than you. Whilst you know how fast you are going, you have no idea how fast he is. He has no idea how fast you are going, but then again he's not on your side of the road is he?

Can't help with the incident in question, but would like to add another anecdote:

Yesterday I was heading south on the A1M, Wetherby area. There's a left-hand bend then a long slog uphill. Well, it's a long slog for artics; most car drivers seem to head for the outside lane. I was in my van, proceeding merrily up the middle lane, not being pushy, just making progress between the trucks and a solid line of cars. Then an artic decides he wants to overtake the truck in front, so I check I have space to get into the outside lane, indicate and flash the truck out. Now Mr. Silver-Rovertwat decides that I am OBVIOUSLY an arrogant incompetent white van man (although the van is red ) who wants to push in front, so he accelerates, trying to close the door on me. Meanwhile the truck BEHIND to my left has also pulled out. With few alternatives, I had to proceed with the move to the outside lane. Roverman goes all apoplectic, flashing, honking, but worst of all he STOOD on the brakes almost causing the guy behind to ram him. I get the V's, shaking fists, the lot. One of the truck drivers starts giving Roverman some grief, meanwhile the truck I overtook is waving to say 'thanks for letting me out'.
What would you do? Carry on with the manoeuvre; stay where you are and hope the truck trying to pull out realises you can't go anywhere and doesn't move (bearing in mind you've already signalled to him that it's OK); stand on the brakes and hope the artic behind doesn't run you down?
Roverman had NO need to close the gap on me; I was accelerating into the gap anyway and had plenty of room before he started playing sully buggers. From that point to where the A1M/ M1 splits (abut 4 miles?), he made no attempt to go any faster - certainly he didn't even catch me up, let alone overtake; he sat mostly in the outside lane and was UNDERtaken by several vehicles.
Yet I have no doubt that he'd have been slagging van drivers off to everyone he knows, last night...
Today, returning from Lincoln: woman in a Corsa, sat in the outside lane of the A1M at 75. I undertook her in the end, as did at least three other cars. She stared straight ahead, seemed to be oblivious.
But she's not in the wrong of course: we are, because SPEED KILLS...
