Ok couple of beers quaffed, having owned a few TVR's over the years and just coming back into the fold (so to speak) I'm wondering is TVR world one big happy club these days? Or is there demarcation between models due to age or maybe value?
Do the classic team accept the modern Tam etc team and does the Wedge team accept the S guys etc....
I read all the threads on these forums as im prob a geek!
Hence my question....are you looked down upon....or do you look up to?

Just that some are more equal than others I think that generally everyone accepts and appreciates everyone else's choice of car, for whatever reasons they have choosen that particular model.
They are, after all, genuine TVR's unlike the MG thing for example where badges were stuck on family saloons so is an MG Maestro a "real" MG?
I haven't noticed any prejudice or snobbery amongst TVR owners either on here or in person at club events or similar.
On the rare occassions I spot another TVR when I'm in my TVR greetings are exchanged.
Speed Six Cerbera owners get a gentle ribbing but on the whole I think there is harmony in TVR circles.

Generally a good bunch, though I would say that us S owners are on the receiving end of the odd tinge of in-brand snobbery. I've even been asked by a fellow Tivver "An S? Why would you buy one of those!?"
Luckily the number of fks I give about what other people think about the cars I drive amount to zero!*

I will say that S owners are probably some of the most down to earth, grounded car enthusiasts you'll meet, and generally good to be around. TVR community is pretty good anyway, but the S guys are the boys.
Interesting subject. In my experiences it was a bit clique in the 80s and 90s at monthly TVRCC meets. I had bought my first TVR a Taimar in 1987, i was most welcome as the majority of the other cars were 3000m's and Wedges. A couple of years later i turned up in the then new TVR S (6 months old), i was either treated with suspicion or Mobbed for test drives.Thankfully this doesn't happen anymore.
Can be a few sub groups within groups but as tvrcc members and meets go welcomes have always been warm when we were in the club even though we made few meets compare to regulars.
Every type of tiv welcomed with open arms and loved for their best points, the owners ribbed for their golf clubs, old world dedication, grenade spec motors as appropriate

Its like any type of club, there will always be the odd little cliquey groups, but I have always been made to feel welcome - don't attend very many meetings but when I do show up, there is always a warm welcome. We have done some trips with Surrey and a little splinter one to see ZZ Top in Epernay a couple of years ago and we got a little tipsy with Netty from Hampshire at Le Mans and shared a few wines with Mandy too on the odd occasion..... have also formed good friends ships (Steve and Karen) too.

How are we viewed?
We Tivvers are the friendliest, most tolerant bunch of enthusiasts you could ever hope to meet.
Once upon a time we even permitted an Aston Martin owner & his missus to attend one of our meets. ( But he does have a Tuscan racer that he entertains us with, so what the Hell? )
But as an S owner, I could never be tempted to join the Dark Side of Chim Golf Buggy ownership. They are just far too common. But they do look nice clad in a very expensive suit of Griffith hairy-chested medallion-clad fat arsed wheelbarrow bodyshell.
I could however be tempted by a Tuscan S convertible with an engine that has had the firing pin made safe. Or a Tam. Or a Sag with a removeable roof. Or a 3000S. Or even a Cerb if I had two amputee children. Or a nice raucous Wedge.
OK, any TVR then .........
My S1, "Austin" is the most fun car I have ever owned, and the best value smiles per mile as well. This is a very important consideration when you are as poor as I am. But I am not proud, I will speak to any TVR owner. I will even speak to anyone with or without the slightest interest in TVR's.
I guess owning a TVR makes you a friendly person.
Finally, they have even named the forthcoming US GP in honour of my TVR.
That's how highlyTVR's are regarded across the Pond. That's how well we are thought of.

There is a fantastic bunch of owners and that goes across all models
Occasionally you find someone that thinks TVRS started with the Tasmin and have no idea of the history of the marque and the evolution of the cars however they are getting fewer and fewer.
I love them all as they all together make up the history of TVRs however would i want to own all models no as my love for the cars is firmly based in the early cars however i love the newer cars where i can see where the evolution ended up from the early cars.
The TVRCC is a Broad Church and those that join and get involved are a great bunch of people obviously there are TVR owners out there that just have a TVR and thats that and dont want to be involved in a club but those that do i never see and snobbery between model owners.
You can have a 60K sag parked beside a 4k Wedge at a met and the two owners getting along and chatting about there cars with interest regardless of values or speed and to each owner the car brings equal pleasure
