Chipping and Tuning

Never before have TVR owners had so much expertise available

The three big names in TVR tuning have joined forces recently.

Joospeed, Austec Racing and Mark Adams have pooled their talents to provide the best solutions for TVR owners seeking more power.

For some years now Mark Adams has applied his expertise to Rover engined TVRs, building up a wealth of knowledge as he trekked the country with his laptop. Now he's working with Austec Racing near Gatwick, making use of their rolling road facilities to do his business.

Austec are leaving Mark to look after the Rover V8s whilst they turn their attention to other models of TVR - and other cars. As well as the TVR S Series, they do a lot of work tuning normal road cars includind diesels (turbo diesels are particularly rewarding cars for ECU work).

Also, in conjunction with Joospeed Austec have developed expertise in remapping the ECUs of Cerberas, a process that can release more of the enormous power available from the TVR V8.

Joospeed in Derbyshire will also be making use of their research, providing remapped ECUs to customers in the north of the country.

Just what sort of difference can a 500 Griff owner expect to notice on the road after chipping and what does it cost?

Do a search for all topics with Mark Adams' name in them. A fair few are on the engines section. You WILL notice a difference if your car is std factory chipped.

Big difference!! Even better when combined with ACT's induction system. Found on mine (chim 500) it now pulls like a steam train right to the red line, where as before it used to run out of puff at 5000rpm. Mark Adams also raised the rev limiter by 250rpm to 6250 too.

I think this is excellent news, any one that has a RV8 tweeked by Mark Adams will benefit purely from the fact the work is being done in a TVR specialist garage.
Personally I've had to reschedule sessions with Mark mid way due to the car needing a bit of tlc, here and there . By working on Austecs RR if you have a problem it can be sorted, if possible straight away, by people that know the cars. I also understand that Austec have invested in an Injector Test and cleaning rig to improve the overall process. Most cars have some form of injector problems, which only RR and a lot of experience can identify, unless you are rich enough to change the injectors every service not to worry about it.AIMHO.

Yes, agreed, it does sound a good arrangement but a couple of queries if I may. I'm up in the NW and though Sheffield is an OK run (avoiding death row, the 62) Austec is a bit of a hike. Is there anywhere further up that Mark uses? Secondly, I've got a bog standard 4L Chim but it's mine, if you know what I mean. It's had lots of TLC & I love it & it doesn't let me down. But am I better off putting sentiment aside and buying a 5 or will the cost of a chip & tune really give me a worthwhile return? I kind of hope the latter but I'm not too sure. Help please!?

I'm in Essex and everywhere decent seems a bit of a hike to me. Mine too endures bucket-loads of TLC and is only used in the dry (it's a fun-car FFS!) but I'm SURE it would benifit from a session with the Guru Adams and a RR. Anyone know if CDL have a RR, or Offord?
