Tuscan Detailed - Amazing!!
Discussion
Hi
Recently bought this Tuscan 2 Convertible with Reflex Charcoal paintwork and at £650 a litre of the stuff I decided to hand it over to Jay at Gleaming Kleen for a full detail before sending it on to paintshield for 'wrapping'. The photos speak for themselves, it really is an amazing turn round, definetly worth doing. Jay himself genuinely likes TVR's and the quality of his attention to detail is a credit to him.
Here's the write up from 'Detailing World' -- the car is stunning!! Cheers Jay Many Thanks:-
Jay's website:-- www.gleamingkleen.co.uk
Upon inspection it was clear that is had been machined polished poorly in the past and owner went on to explain that the dealership had actually done this for him to try and rectify the poor paintwork. As you can see in the photo's they did not do a very good job
Correction was carried out using Menz 3.02 on a 3m polishing pad and then this was refined with Megs 205

Swissvax Cleaner Fluid applied and then paintwork was sealed with Swissvax Best of Show, wheels sealed with Swissvax Autobahn and tyres dressed with Swissvax Pneu. Carbon fiber exhaust barrels were polished with Menz 203S. Fabric roof sealed with Renovo
Few afters

Thanks for looking

awesome!
so now that you have it de-swirled, did they give you any advice as to how to avoid getting swirls back again - presumably, they came from you somehow incorrectly cleaning the Tuscan over time, dirty sponge or something?
Or will the inevitable happen and this is something which you'll need to repeat once every 4/5 years?

Amazing, what a job - would be interested in a ball park figure too, would love the Chimaera done.
Also, IMO one of the very best TVR colours and it suits the shape of the Tuscan perfectly. Anyone see the Prototype Typhon in the same colour?

Best thing to do is have a look on Jay's Gleaming Kleen website prices are listed there, then have a chat with him yourself as it depends on how bad your paintwork is.
He also offers a 10% discount if you are a member of TVRCC.
It really is worth having done, transforms the car and gives you a blank canvas to look after the paintwork correctly. Never ceases to amaze me what can be corrected, 5-7 litres needed for a full respray and at £650 a litre of paint for Reflex Charcoal a full detail was worth every penny.
Swirls are something that cannot be avoided, they do occur over time no matter how hard you try to avoid them. But the extent of the swirling can be lessened by the correct washing technique using good quality products. When they do occur they can be corrected relatively easy, but with my car they obviously hadn't as the photos show and what a bloody mess!! TVR paint isn't the greatest and thickness over the cars varies considerably so getting a professional to do the job was the best option, have a look at Detailing World website, an overwhelming amount of info on there.
Again give Jay a call for a chat - Good bloke, I believe he has a T350 awaiting his magic touch next.
Cheers

As you say Ironman, there's an astonishing amount of threads on there given that it's a special interest web site just about washing cars
Seriously though, you soon get drawn into the double-bucket method and grit guards, foam lances and woolly mitten gloves - I assure it's a whole new world
