Creating the Ultimate TVR...

OK, here's the brief:
You have a choice of any road-going TVR apart from the Typhon.
You have £30,000 to spend buying the car (new or used) and £10,000 to spend on upgrades.
You are trying to achieve maximum performance in the following areas:
- Top speed
- Acceleration
- Braking
- Track performance
- Reliability
How would you go about it?
My first stab, is to buy a TVR Cerbera 4.5RR. Then spend the £10,000 on an engine mapping/tuning with Jules with the intention of developing a genuine 450bhp+, new suspension and a brake upgrade. Could such a car top 200mph and dip below 8s to 100mph? Would it be quicker than say a Ferrari 360 round a track?

I would have thought it would be quicker around the track in standard form. certainly by adding nitrons.
As Plotloss said - fit nitrous. For £2k you will destroy everything.

I'm not sure how the fitting of nitrous marries with the concept of reliability, however hilarious it might be!

A mate of mine has nitrous in his cerb - not used the majority of the time. On the track, switched on, and bingo, 600bhp. I dont know of anyone that would run nitrous constantly. It has to be the cheapest way to the largets power gain.

Yep, I appreciate that - I know some people have it switched when their foot hits the floor on the accelerator for example!
I just imagined that using nitrous at all on a Cerbie V8 would be detrimental to the engine...shnozz said:

Has the engine proved to be unaffacted in the longer term by these short burst of nitrous? Also, has he timed any runs with it switched on, e.g. 0-100mph, etc.?

very early days yet but he hasnt been so premature as to just stick it in. He is pretty knowledgeable about things like this and what the engine can and cant take - also sought advice from experts from every field. He reckons it will handle the extra power without a problem - although this isnt direct port injection so (apparently) this is less likely to cause damage. Its routed to a progressional controller.
no 0 - 100 times yet - as i say its early days.

well campbell seems to have been ok and he has been running direct port injection Nos for some time now. But then I should realise that mentionning Nos on a TVR forum always gets peoples backs up, especially when it pisses all over 4.5 litre TR7's.

The system is direct port foggers and fully mapped with a programmable controller. I also have bought an Emerald ECU which should be delivered any day now so I can sort the fine tuning!
Also I now run of 106+ octane fuel which alone bumps up the power & reliability.
Based on the calcs the power currently is around a minimum of 538bhp and can be raised to nearly 560bhp.
As soon as I'm happy with the full running I'll be at Santa Pod for an officail time!
As for reliablity...its not a problem as long as you introduce the NOS properly.
Too many people don't know what NOS really is and therefore are afraid and automatically think every thing will blow up. This is not the case. Most V8s will take another 150bhp as standard!

Hey - it does not piss me off. No I love the idea on NO2. If you study the chemistry of it - it goes so well with petrol and with the latest advances in direct port injection and proper ecu control - well it's a real winner.
But calling my pride and jot a TR7 well

Sounds fantastic. I'd love to hear the power/torque/performance figures when you have everything sorted.

only a little leg pull. I get used to the golf kart jokes. Not a wedge fan, but the SEAC is a special bit of kit. Loved the article in EVO by the way, car looked stunning.
