Hi to all,i have a Mk3 69 spitfire which seems a little down on top end power and emits smoke from the top of the rocker cover where it joins the smiths emissions valve, it also started smoking from a small hole in the fuel pump and all this enters the foot well of the passenger side.I have taken it to a local garage for some advice and was told that the rings needed changing and that the cylinders would need re boring and the crank re ground and pollished, all totaling £1500.00.
Please could any one else advise as to wether this is the correct course of action or am i bieng taken for a ride, and the rings only need changing?.
Many thanks in advance.

Thanks Boosted, i`ve changed the diagphram in the emissions valve and the spring is fine too, just put a new fuel pump on and its no longer coming from there now. I`ll try a compression test soon as, does the crank realy need re grinding along with a re bore though, thats the bit i`m suspicious about?

Cheers.
