Whats wrong with my suspension :( With video.....
Discussion
Hi Chaps
I have a MK3 Golf GTi.
The rear shocks had gone so yesterday purchased 2 new ones.
I fitted them both, re-assembling in reverse order.
Both side did as per the video. I have now put the old one back on the passenger side until I find the cause of the problem. The passenger side one does not do what the new one's are doing, they secure properly.
Is the shock the wrong part? They look the same.....
Could the rubber mounts be wrong?
Have I fitted it wrong?
What appears to be the problem is the metal spacer sleeve that sits under the top nut of the top cap is being allowed to travel through the body?

Many thanks

Fitted wrong somehow. It's been a while since I last fiddled with MKII/III golfs so I can't remember the sequence of rubbers and washers you put on.
The only thing that could be wrong is if the damper shaft is too narrow and goign straight through one of the washers.
This is actually what I am thinking as when I re-fitted the old shock it eradicated the problem.....The only thing that could be wrong is if the damper shaft is too narrow and goign straight through one of the washers.
