Long time lurker first time poster with a tire issue/question

Basically I went to kwikfit (I know! But to be fair they were across the road from my work, they did my MOT last year, normal fee + £20 for something to pass it, did my wife's car this year was a clean pass) to get a tire after somehow ripping a chunk out of inner sidewall, no problems there.

But the manager/top bloke walked behind my car while on the ramp, glanced at back wheel then came to tell me I had a 'twisted' tire. Is this the usual kwik fit marketing we all know and love or could there be some truth to it? it's not something I've ever heard of but he was making it out to be concerning

what exactly is a twisted tire? I'd be expecting something like http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/forum/uploads/mon... but it looked 'ok' apart from being older, it was still legal, holding air, no gouges, etc

Its not something I've ever heard of either which got me wondering is he pulling my wire or or should I be worried

I'll try and get a pic at some point

I've been looking on Google & it's been about as good as a fart in a wind tunnel

Only been able to find one example that describes it as being when the the cords of the tire are deformed and will look like a wobble or zig-zag when moving

And does it?
To my untrained eye, no, to kwik fit man, it must be, which is why I'm trying to find out more about it, seems to be such a rare thing though

Did he not show you what he was talking about then?
Took me out to the car spun the back wheel, pointing to the inside edge

"See that? The tyre is twisted, should really change that soon, you'll feel it vibrating in the car"

"Oh so it is, I will keep an eye on it though there's been no vibrating"

Back home, googled it, next to nothing

If he's been honest then fair enough, but just got this feeling that he was trying to pump me for another £90 for a tyre

For all its a budget (Fullrun make/ditch-hunter, on the car when I bought it last year, I've had no issues with it or any of the other tyres (other than the gouge that took me to kwik fit in the first place) even the MOT was passed (with a minor emission problem) at the same place, no mention of tyres

Leave, get a second opinion. Kwik-fit are world reknowned for finding extra work creatively.
This is why I used to avoid them, now they're conveniently placed & have pleasantly surprised me the past couple of visits
