I'm not a serious detailer like some of you, but when I got my new car a couple of months back I treated myself to some posher cleaning products.

Delighted at first with my lambswool meguiars wash mitt, but after about 10 uses it's now pretty much a sheepskin glove, each time I use it it sheds lambswool everywhere!

Is this normal? How long does yours last?

Lastly can recommend any longer lasting alternatives?

Any mitt I've bought outlasts the Meguiars ones I used to buy. Eurow were better. Dodo make some I've not tried and I just bought some Bilt Hamber ones.

Same thing happened to mine.

Did you rinse it thoroughly and dry it after each use?

I wasn't that careful with mine, so thought that might have been the cause. Just brought a Microfibre one.

U need to make sure you rinse it out/wash it properly with clean water and let it dry naturally.. thats the key

No washing machine washing or anything like that.. dont use fabric softners either.

And dry inside out. The Meguiars ones are NOT the best quality either.

I use a Dodo Juice Tribble mitt which gets alot of regular use, still in great shape after 60 car washes!, they need to be rinsed out and left to air dry indoors after each use, although poorer quality cheaper mitts will rot quickly.

Cheers for the replies. It does get rinsed and left to dry hanging up in the garage so may take some time to dry, not sure if that made any difference to its short life?

I'm going to get one of the dodo juice tribble mitts and give it a try, similar price & if get more than 10 washes I'll be doing better than the Megs mitt!

I still have one of these, which is probably 3 years old now and still going strong.

My Bilt Hamber wash mitt is still going strong one year on, despite ending up in the washing machine several times. For ~£11 it's proving to be a good buy.
