Saw this on detailing world - it's an incredibly detailed write up on a "platinum detail" by KDS of a black Ford GT (owned by a PHer, funnily enough smile ).

With the news filled this week of the gent offering a £7.2k detail, I thought it put into perspective just how much can be done by skilled people at a fraction of the cost. And indeed perhaps how much of a marketing exercise that news story was hehe

My point being - look at what can be achieved with a car. absolutely stunning.

I warn you though, the thread may kill your computer (soooooo many pictures).

Enjoy thumbup

I totally agree Tony, £7.2k for a detail scratchchin, i saw the video and well........

I popped in to see Kelly when this GT was in the workshop and it looked stunning, the hours taken was unbelievable and like you say Tony - at a fraction of the cost. Also down there was not 1 but 2 Rolls Royces (Phantom bow) and they were also being detailed to perfection.

Here are the 2 RR's in question.

The guys up in Aberdeen Polished Bliss do some serious work and their video editing plus music would make MTV / VH1 blush....

There are some amazing detailers out there who really know their products, how to bring paintwork back to where it should be and don't need to shout about costs....the Daily Mail article was the usual rubbish that comes from that rag of paper.

yes

Though kudos to the guy who got himself in the daily mail - that's a fine piece of advertising, even if it does keep those of us more grounded a little sceptical smile

It's the bits like the plastic repaint and the spark plug cover that I really like

and detailing world has the "other" media hungry detailer back.............. and within 5 minutes he's posted up a 7K detail. What I like about KDS are his posts come over as a genuine bloke that shares a passion and
info with even the most inexperienced of detailers. Same as Clark at Polish bliss, they don't come over as egotistical and you never read how much or little they charge.

Can be very easy for us to go over the 100 hour mark per car eek

longest a car has been with is 16 weeks so far and most are here for a week - 2 weeks

For the public that dont know what we do when i say we clean cars for a living and can take upto 100 hours they just dont believe us and then tell me it only takes them half a sunday to do what we do .

Have just picked up my car from Kellys....super shiny! Only 'problem' i have is that every time i have some work done and arrive to collect my car i look at what else is there and want to change my car...unless my eyes decieved me next to my car were a Veyron and a Ford GT!!!
And i thought my car stood out! Awesome cars and (as per usual) top work from Kelly.

Nice work and one can see the effort that has gone into transforming a really dirty car into a showroom condition one. But how do owners let supercars like that get so bad in the first place??

Further, the GT40 is really a very "messy" design. Heaps of plastic trim, indents, secret crevices etc...and some pretty thickly painted on go-faster stripes. The design looks like it makes it difficult to keep clean. Imagine how much extra weight could be shed from the vehicle?

Not my kinda car I must say.

Thats what i thought , but supercar owners have some excellent meetings in which can travel alot of miles and even across other countrys all trying to keep up with each other wink thats why they can be plastered with all sorts of gime and muck all at high speed .

Then they park up in the sun baking the grime on , then and some rain you have one dirty car that then sits in the garage until next meeting , this combo is a nightmare with regards then removing the dirt and grime .

The shape of the GT has grown on me alot and like the messy design , while it was in the workshop next to the veyron it made the veyron look plain in comparision .

I dont think the weight is holding back the car that much 648 bhp

It must be amazing to have a car like that, enjoy it, take it to someone who works to an unbelievable standard, then get it back in better condition than it left the factory in! TRuly amazing work, the patience required astounds me.
