Which is the best car polish around?
Discussion
i always used Autoglym sper resin polish and the liquid hardwax but after buy a relatively cheap tub of carnauba wax £16 ..... i will never used anything different again. Its fantastic stuff goes on easy, comes off easy, lasts a good length of time and the water runs off something silly.
There isn't really a BEST. Its all in the prep work you do to the car.
For example claying, cleansing and sometimes deep polishing, then sealing the paintwork and just to add the extra lustre try some good quality wax.
Every car's need is different and there are products suited to the car, one range of products doesn't do everything just like a car, a performance car usually doesn't carry the kids, the kids friends and all their football stuff.

Yeah sure you can, it may not provide more gloss rather depth. But you are advised to top a sealant especially for the looks department !
I would reccomend
Souvern
Nattys Blue
P21s
all available from www.cleanandshiny.co.uk

i have been using Zymol for nearly 10 years now and have won several concours event, have a look at the stats in the u.s for the concours de elegance which has been won for many years by zymol users. there is one very point made previously which is the application, this is very important and the one normally carried out incorrectly, please drop me a line if you need any tips
There are numerous polishes out there at the moment. I think the colour of car has a great deal to do with it.
I currently run a red Honda S2000 and swear by Wolfgang products (you can get these at www.motorgeek.co.uk).
However I previously had a dark blue bmw and thought klasse worked best.

Rob,
I agree with Detailcity. Everyone has their favorite brand. Some people only use it because its in fashion and seems to be the 'right' brand for their particular car. Others are brand loyal and have stuck with the same brand for years.
I believe that to get your car to look amazing, you need to understand what the paintwork needs before choosing a brand.
Overall, the finish will be 40% down to the brand and 60% down to you and your ability.
There are many detailers and valeters on the forums who will push their favoured products but in the end it comes down to what you find is the best and easiest for you.
You may want to spend all day washing/claying/washing/drying/sealer glazing/waxing then top coating or you may just want to wash and go. It is a personal choice.
I have customers who go by the smell of the product and some that go by whether its a solid wax or liquid.
The choice as they say is yours. I am glad I have chosen the brand I use as I wouldnt want to have to choose from the plethora of brands out there. It is very confusing for the consumer.
Best of luck.

On the subject of polish,
My car is a TVR Chimaera in crystal verde (light silvery green)
i have found it's easy to get a good shine on darker colours but on light metalics or lighter colours what the best polish to use?.
The paint work is very good. i just what that glossy look.
Put a polished light car next to a polished red or blue etc and there is no comparison
and at car shows these always seem to attract more attention because of this.
Im just after something easy to use but gives a good glossy shine.
previously used Mer, Autoglym, Meguires gold class, Simoniz.
Thanks Alan.

On light colours it is more tricky to achieve depth but not gloss.
For your TVR I would reccomend Klass AIO and Klasse SG topped with Pinnacle souvern.
Try www.detailingworld.co.uk for hints
Try www.polishedbliss.co.uk for the products.
Good luck!!

This is a quote from the thread too "the top 2 award winners at the Detroit Auto Show (which I might mention is one million dollar first place, invitation only, and considered
the highest custom car competition in the world) use and recommend Mothers,
If one is competing for a one million dollar prize and you see the top
competitor pick up and use Mothers I would say most people who use it would
feel more than adequate with the results."
I got mine from www.maxx-waxx.com the guy was extremely helpful and recommended a good programme for what i was after. Prices were lowest i found too
Cheers
