Am I being unreasonable?? Heres the story -

Damaged Rear Quarter Panel Selected Bodyshop Quoted to replace & spray

Work Done picked up Car, Noticed that they had in fact tapped out damaged area & tried to apply filler to the whole area just looked wrong & very evident

Confronted Selected Bodyshop, they put their hands up & agreed to have it back in to do properly

Picked Car up minus entire alarm system as they removed it as they had lost my key fob - Noticed dust & small holes on new paint back again

Picked up again looked ok small holes still there few weeks later fish eyes appearing in paint - UGLY back again

Picked up Car again, fish eyes gone small holes remaining & lower stone chip guard upside down, ohhh and a nice tape line along the window - Quality

Felt almost embarrassed for them more than anything to complain again & assumed this was the best they could do so left

Some 3 years on & I now have what they call Filler Lift & want £600 reduced from £960 to rectify which they are calling a goodwill gesture & the warranty only starts from the original repair when the wing was tapped out & filled the picture below is what I now have.

The car is 15 years old & a rare one too, this is the only issue on the entire body (ironically the newest part) the rest cleans up like a new penny, I believe without question this should be rectified by the garage in question your views please?

Looks like filler lifting. But it could be a number of things wrong with it. The filler may have not been mixed properly or have too much or too little hardner in it. So it wont go off correctly or go hard in some places put not others.

It could also be a paint adhesion problem.

Moisture trapped somewhere in the repair process.

As for the bodyshop correcting it, depends what they estimated for. Was the quote to supply and fit a new panel or just the labour to fit the panel even though they didnt. What guarantee did they give you ??

What car is it ?? £600 seems a bit steep to correct that to me.
Hey jds32

Thanks for the reply

The quote was to supply & fit a new quarter panel, they did this the second time when I took it back & completely removed the filled wing which was their first attempt, this is actually a new part of the quarter panel, so I would assume no filler should even be here. I am thinking it may be a paint adhesion problem. I have asked them why filler has been used here but over a week ago now but they haven’t answered this yet. The car is a Porsche 993 RS so not a cheap motor. I didn’t ask them what guarantee I was getting as I assumed this well known garage was honourable & genuine moreover I wouldn’t get this after 3 years.

Thanks laser sag

jds32, I know the glass had been removed as it was sticking out when i picked it up further than the other side & got worse every time I shut the door so in the end pushed it home myself, where its stayed since.

I understand this image (handed) is what was replaced note the drip gutter is part of the panel & I have to clarify highlighted the area where this bubbling is

Cheers Crafty I hear exactly what your saying, I will refrain from expressing my true feelings & intentions atleast until they give me some kind of decent reply other than "We cannot keep doing things for free in these times as weve got wages to pay" lol.

One thing is for sure I dont like being taken for a ride hence research & posting this for some views on what ive actually got & why irked

Nothing in writing Paintman, to be honest I assumed they were a honorable & respected company so this did't even cross my mind

Hi David I'm still waiting for the MD to come back to me with some answers so will wait until then before I or an independent take a look underneath as much as I want to now.

V8 I know they can do a good job as I’ve spoken to other people who have used them, I feel that I was not liked after I picked them up on the tap out and mass fill job so guessed the final repair was the best I was going to get.

I wasn’t expecting this to happen down the road though. I would never pay them to rectify it as you say would rather take my business elsewhere, but then I feel strongly in why should they get away with doing a censored job
