how much actual paint in a 400ml aerosol?
Discussion
Hi all
Just pondering options for painting Sacco panels, bumpers etc on the W124 and trying to weigh up costs of aerosols Vs 0.25l or 0.5l tins of base coat + thinners.
On the face of it the colour matched base coat aerosols seem to be good value at e.g. about £12 for 400ml Vs around £40 for 0.5 litre of paint + say another £10 for thinners (from e.g. paints4u).
Ion that basis, 1.0 litre of paint (assuming 50/50 paint/thinners) would work out at £45-£50, wheres 3 aerosols would be 1.2 litres and only about £35, and much more convenient.
But that makes me very suspicious of how much actual paint there really is in a typical 400ml aerosol can? Surely they can't work out cheaper per litre than buying 0.5 litres of paint + thinners?
