What are you basing that on?

Experience?

Yeah!!! Thats the one! My "signature drink". Has ummm... "effects".
Oh dear. If you're going to drink whisky, do it properly. Glenmorangie, Laphroig, Dalwhinnie, Oban, Caol Isla, Lagavulan, Glenlivet (to name just a few in my drinks cabinet at the moment) in a glass, on its own, nothing else. Mmmmm.

Edited to say: obviously only one of the above would be in the glass at any one time, before someone thinks I do DIY blended!

Jon,

If you're going to drink it properly, a tiny amount of spring water should be added just to break the meniscus and release the aroma

Just my tuppence!

Matt.

Really? I didn't know that. Presumably added with an eye-dropper, I hope?

Learn something new every day.

(Also: Apologies to Mungo if my original reply was taken to be patronising, as it was actually meant in good humour)

Yeah thats the idea I was trying to get across, a very small amount.

I was told it whilst holidaying in the highlands, and it really does make a difference to your favourite malt.

I'm an islands man myself, love Bowmore.

Matt.

Nahh if you are going to do it properly it has to be a Campbletown Malt, Spring Bank or even better if you can get hold of it Glen Scotia or Long Row. Christ if this is what everyone is drinking I'll take a small bank loan out now!!

Sip some malt and hold it in your mouth... then sip some mineral water... feel the taste change!

It feels like it's O/T but it isn't; does anyone know if the car park @ BPaT is secure? Some insurance policies (mine for one) get a bit iffy about leaving your car overnight at anywhere other than your home. There'll be a fair bit of exotica, and a few cars, in the car park park so is it scrote-proof?

Ted has been there himself, carpark lit, camera's ('tis true Ted?) + a security chappy, at least he will be entertained by the number of interesting cars he can look at so he might stay awake all night.

I checked out the car park a few weeks back

- it's not visible from the main road
- it's covered by CCTV
- there are periodic patrols by the security staff

I've also made a request to the hotel that particular attention is paid by their staff to the car park as there will be some nice machinery parked up.

With security having been dealt with, the next question is, will there be sufficent room for us all? Hotel car parks, not being one of my more usual haunts, I have no idea how big they are. I am not looking to arrive a week early, as some seem to planning, and was hoping to not be too far from the action. I don't want to have to catch a bus to the foyer

We should have 60-70 cars, there's space for plenty more than that.

Incidentally, there are two car parks. I suggest we use the first one. Drive in and turn right before you get to the foyer.

I'm glad you said that, I could imagine the scene, the solitary sports car in a sea of mundaneos "Have I got the right date? Where the bloody hell is everybody!
